Any Synthesizer/Electronic Music Nerds On Here? I Just Got This Today...

Roland Gaia SH-01 synth.
And coincidentally I got this right as Roland is about to drop their Gaia 2 synth (which looks & sounds horrible).

I won it on an auction site similar to ebay for half the price it sells on the secondhand market.

No, I will not tell you which site I bought it from because I don't want a bunch of assholes fucking up the auctions.
I've got a few pieces of awesome music gear for way cheaper than on the secondhand market off that site & if word gets out into the music community about it, then it'll be ruined for good.

Figure if I’m going to invest any more of my time into playing music, it’s time to play something difficult. No frets so takes a good ear and muscle memory. Don’t even have strength in my fingering fingers any more. Playing pizzicato until the bow resin comes in. It’s interesting.

Thats cool. Ive always wanted one of those little synth to play around with. I have little musical talent though, so Id likely just be wasting money.

I like how those crazy bands like bubblegum octopus, and horse the band incorporate that 8-bit synth sound.

If you want a powerful full-sized synth that can be used as a practical keyboard, at an affordable price, you ought to look into a used Kyorg Kronos series. OP's synth fills a small niche that most people won't utilize or appreciate.

Looks nice. It's layout is sort of like a Juno-106. Would be nice if it sounded like a J106.

The Gaia is a virtual analog synth but the sound engine is sample based & that kinda ruins the whole point of it except for the analog modulation matrix (all the sliders, buttons & knobs on the top - for all those who don't know anything about synths) - yet I got it for a really good deal & hope to make it the main keyboard synth of my home studio.

I was wondering whether it was actually analog. Since it's digital does that mean you can save all the knob positions as a preset and and not have to put them all back exactly the same to get the same instrument?

Hahaha. No I can't tell you. It's already gaining traction in the electronic music production community & we know if the "guitar community" finds out about it then it'll be ruined for good.

I once had a Roland JD-Xi. I loved it even though I had no clue what it was capable of and I cannot play the piano nor do I have any experience with synths or electronic music.

But that didn't matter because it was a blast to mess around with. It was stolen from my house once when I was gone for a week... That and my cheap guitar amps I owned at the time, ps3, shit like that. It's the only thing I miss that was stolen. I hope you post some tunes!

I'm thinking about getting the MPC One+ soon. I need a new sampler because my Kaoss Pad 3s are giving me issues - inputs/outputs are wearing out, the pads go stiff if I don't use them regularly, plus it's getting harder to find 2gb SD cards -KP3s can only use up to 2gb cards.
KP3s are the heart of my studio & just about everything I produce gets manipulated by them in one way or another. I really want Korg to release a new Kaoss Pad with more sample slots & better sample storage.
