The real punishment for open ai will be the loss of marketshare. They don't own the underlying technology, they just proved that it works and were first to the market. They did not invent transformers and they don't own them. More AI is coming. But there is no promise that those will be more open or honest.

I would say the best thing to do is create your own ai that works foe you, but that is like saying create your own internet. Companies are spending billions on these models, so it will be hard to compete. But you don't have to be better than them at everything just good enough to do what they wont.

But eventually other powerful interests will build their own billion dollar AI and it will have different locks. So you can use different AIs for different tasks depending on restrictions.

try faraday.dev
yer welcome

I have gpt4all (free + local) but faraday uses the GPU, much faster, better UI, easy to learn.

I use GPT for programming. I never really saw the interest in using it for creative writing.

That is the top layer of the onion that is accessible to most people. They don't know what to use AI for yet. But by playing with it they incorporate the tool into their lexicon and one day it will empower them.

The interest for you should be that so many others are taking it up because that means it will find it's way into their hobbies and then the AI will grow stronger by learning to help people in those specific endeavors. That is exciting. Yay.

I do my own programming.
I am a little insulted you thought that was creative writing.
I just wanted to play D&D
Besides, I could easily declare that a markup language.

BTW, I can get mine to do whatever I like.
I'm writing my own agents, not chatbots.

faraday can code too ya know
mov eax, 4
mov ebx, 1
mov ecx, msg
mov edx, 13
int 80h
msg db 'Hello World', 0xa, 0xd, 0
