That is truly amazing. I carry everywhere except to a casino that has their own armed security and i see one or two armed citizens everywhere i go. I am amazed that someone would not pop this insane animal.

There are plenty of places that have open carry. Yet, you don't see anyone exercise it. Gun owners are a minority and those that carry are even less.

Maine is overwhelmingly white and liberal. Also one of the safest states due to the former. Never been there but in my neck of the woods I know lots of people who carry but not a single one of them is a lefty. Even though I know several libs/Dems that have a variety of guns; they just don't carry. I tend to think it's because lefties assume everyone else sees the world as they do and the people who don't won't harm them becaus of the "dude I'm on your side!", mentality they all seem to possess for reasons I cannot comprehend.

By the numbers:
- Maine has a gun ownership rate of 46%
- Only 2% of gun owners carry a firearm daily
- Last I heard there was 50-60 wounded (not just counting deaths but anyone he shot)
- Lets assume twice that many people who were in the line of fire but did not get shot, so 120 people total estimate
- Of those 120 people 55 probably own a gun.
- Of those 55 gun owners getting shot at it is likely that only one was carrying a firearm

So this is far less likely that you would think. What are the chances that one guy is a hero vs being a coward? How was he trained? If you ever take a NRA concealed carry course they teach that the best thing to do is to disengage and fall back and to only use deadly force as a last option.

Would YOU be brave enough to get into a gun fight with someone with an AR while you have a compact carry pistol? In a direct confrontation that would be suicide. I know I would only do this if I could get the jump on him with a guaranteed kill shot

I live in this area. The simple answer is that most people just don’t carry. Less than 1%…

From my experience, someone from Maine would be more likely to mumble passive aggressive and sarcastic comments rather than respond logically.

So that Maine won't be constitutional carry state.

Opening up with 6 rounds against a rifle with 30 would be extremely risky. Bringing a pistol to a rifle fight.
