Thanks Dangus. For anyone not aware, that is historian David Irving. He has a bunch of excellent books about WW2. Don't buy them off Amazon as they are outrageous $$. Pick them up off Irvings site, they are costly, but the binding is of highest quality. Irving can use the money, but he felt the info was so important that he released them as .pdfs as well if it's too much $ for you. https://irvingbooks.com/xcart/

I cannot be certain, and I could be completely wrong, but what I think he meant was "coal".
One of Germany's primary sources of energy at that time was a form of "brown coal" or Lignite (a form of compressed peat).

And if he meant coal, he has a very good point because the sheer energy cost of cremating bodies, no matter what the energy source, in the middle of a war, would have been prohibitive to the point of absurdity.
