This site goes into a bit more detail on the degrees in masonry. I've looked into this before, where it's related to satanic ritual abuse, but never with context. Have a few thick books on masonry/occult, but of course these things will never give you the full rundown.
I fell in with some. I did not care for them. They didn't pay me on time and they were shifty. They had biz connections to China and CIA that they always bragged about. One guy I had to meet with (discuss the software design) claimed to be CIA. Everyone had big fat mason rings, they never mentioned masons to me. One told me once in a starbucks, "I am an evil man". I really don't know what he was getting at, but later that day I swore off dealing with masons and mason affiliated.
For years I was on the fence about them. Was asked to join twice. I don't doubt low level folks are good people, but there's plenty of corruption in there too. A coworker asked me a coded question once that confused me, though I researched a lot over the years, it was funny when I stumbled upon it
