Regular Americans with guns did nothing when Gold confiscation happened and their families' wealth was literally stolen from them at gunpoint. Regular Americans with guns did nothing when de-segregation happened and they were forced to send their kids to school with animals at gunpoint. Regular Americans with guns did nothing when Katrina happened and the National Guard performed actual home invasions to confiscate guns.

The list of bullshit that's happened is nearly endless. American soldiers would fire on American citizens (largely) without problem. If Americans are waiting on being shot at to begin resisting tyranny-- it's already wayyyy too late to actually resist.
