Billion-dollar supersize prisons are slated to be built across the U.S

Alabama is building a new supersize prison that will cost over $1 billion – the most expensive incarceration facility in U.S. history.

The Alabama Corrections Institution Finance Authority late last month approved a final price of $1.08 billion for the 4,000-bed prison now under construction in Elmore County.

And Alabama isn’t the only state moving forward with plans for larger, pricier prisons, with proponents of such facilities citing the need to address issues of overcrowding, poor sanitation conditions and a lack of mental health resources in the current facilities.

Nebraska is building a new $350 million, 1,500-bed prison to replace the Nebraska State Penitentiary. Supporters say it will alleviate the overflow of inmates in the state’s prisons, which hold about 50% more people than they were designed for.

“This investment is a key part of our community,” Rob Jeffreys, director of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, told CBS affiliate KOLN. “It [provides the] ability to keep people safe.”

We've been imprisoned ever since the "IRON CURTAIN" came down...if someone can convince me as to the logic behind the development of a super prison infrastructure I'd be willing to waste 3 minutes of my life trying to process whatever retarded explanation that I was given and if, by some cursed chance, the words exothermic/endothermic or irredenta come up....take cover.

Many people like to cry about the alleged number of people we in America keep in prison for (((supposedly))) victimless crimes.

The reason there are so many people by % of the population in prison in America is because we don't just kill them. Really. That's it.

America is one of the most lenient countries in the world for the amount of crime we suffer. So so so many of our prisoners, if they were in Russia, or China, or any number of South American or African prisons, would just be killed outright - partly because some of those countries don't have the resources to keep many prisoners alive (and partly because they really just don't give much of a fuck about criminals).

I am really tired of supporting so many prisoners with my tax dollars, especially with the high rates of recidivism (44% of US criminals are back in prison within a year - WTF).

And don't go looking at Norway or whatever in the fuck Scandinavian country anyone might point out to say therapy can turn a criminal around. Look at the racial makeups of the prisoners here and there. There is a big, HUGE difference. Look at the recidivism by race and you can see things plain as day.

We need to tighten the nooses around the niggers necks (and the necks of the spics and the repeat degenerates) and drop our prison numbers. We already keep way too many bad animals alive.

Start speaking out about this. Remember: By virtue of the fact that such a high percentage of our population is in prison means that we are more humane than most of the rest of the world. Otherwise we (like many other societies) would just kill these bad animals.

Yeah, Norway only works because all the people there are white and they go to prison for stuff that mostly isn't heinous. Also, Norway is stinking rich and they have a lot less people (~5M) than there are living in New York City (~9M).

Management of humans doesn't scale very well. That's why a country like Norway that has only a few people seems like a better place to live than a country like China with a shit-ton of people living there.

Cheaper to outsource warehousing hardened repeat criminals in a forigon country. Say, China, Vietnam or Malaysia. Price of a plane ticket and $2 a day, send the fuckers over and see if they can better rehabilitate the true criminals.
