Just got back from the gym myself. Also feels good. Getting into my old routine after dealing with some lower back pain.

Lower back pain is a bitch. Everyone swears by their own methods but seriously do the McGill big 3. It'll help a ton

@we_kill_creativity

Check yourselves for anterior pelvic tilt. That is a big cause of lower back pain and general bad posture, also may be why you always look fat in the mirror despite not actually being fat.

Posture, gents.

McGill big 3 will help with that as well

I swear by my method. Eat only beef (salt to taste) until all of your ailments are gone.

Ok.

Had no idea wtf that was, had to look it up. Comes recommended by many, seems like.

Need to start doing those, as well as glute work. Can't do squats or even deadlifts anymore.

Doing that and strengthening/stretching the psoas is the only things that work. Old school PT hamstring stretches will disappoint you and make the pain worse

Running

🤢

Lifting?

🔥🔥🔥🤪🔥🔥🔥

Really though, I like lifting more. Running sucks. Ellipticals are cool, heard they're really effective cardio.

I find it hard to beat an early morning run- the cold air in your lungs, and the sweet kiss of the breeze.

Try a cold plunge.

[ - ] mannerbund 1 point 1.7 yearsOct 11, 2023 14:48:44 ago (+1/-0)

I'll be doing that this winter when the creek is higher and colder. Looking forward to it.

[ - ] MaryXmas [op] 0 points 1.7 yearsOct 11, 2023 17:07:08 ago (+0/-0)

Start now using tap water. You need 60 degrees to start getting benefits and a cold tap is about 56.
56, 48, 42, 36, 32. If you start at 32, it will be real hard. I did 25 min at 48 today. That's about as cold as I can get it without adding a chiller.

Huh, I did not know that. Good info- The ground water here is about 55 degrees out of the well, I doubt the creek water is a whole lot warmer than that right now, given it's in perpetual shade.

You are literally building a scenario to inflict discomfort so you will have more success if you build the habit first. You will get benefits but the habit is what keeps you coming back. I get more dopamine in colder water but it is harder to get in, that is why it is just part of my routine. It makes it easier to get in. But yes, the dopamine kick is amazing. Also, you thin down and have an amazingly fast metabolism.

I suppose that's why I tend to just jump into the rivers as opposed to wading into them. It doesn't matter how cold they are at that point, you're going in pretty damn quickly as you fall towards the surface. I find a lot more hesitation if I try to ease into it.

I'll scout for a spot with less dirt/mud in the creek and give it a shot there until I get my rig fixed to get back out to the rivers.

Lifting. Yes.

But really, running does suck. Recumbent bike is my go to, although I look like an old fag on it. Fuckit, it's effective, for me.

[ - ] bobdole9 1 point 1.7 yearsOct 10, 2023 19:19:31 ago (+2/-1)

Looking like an old fag is better than looking like a fatass. My back can't stand anything besides a recumbent bike or a free swinging elliptical.

I’m dumb as fuck and go balls to the wall on every CrossFit workout I go to which amounts to 5 days a week. Im all worn the fuck out from the workout today and it feels good. I can’t figure out how to stop. It could be because my current situation is a dumpster fire and the daily workout is the only thing keeping me from losing my fucking cool. I think that’s why I go.

[ - ] Not_a_redfugee 1 point 1.7 yearsOct 10, 2023 20:25:43 ago (+1/-0)

Just got back from running twice as far as you did in half the time. Feels good.

I’ve been running and biking more frequently. Feels good man.

Yeah, I remember my twenties.
Problem is, my knees don't.

I am so fat that my shins hurt even when I just jog. But you are right I need to get in shape so I can kick nazi ass!

I upvoted you because there is nothing false about what you have said.

To be fat and want to be lean is a good thing.

I am normal and aspire to be lean. Working on it.
