I just don't get why respectable folk that get harassed on the street treat them like it is a man to man fight. When I see someone like that on the street threatening me, I immediately do exactly what I do with a wild animal in the woods. I avoid them and walk far around them, maintaining loose eye contact to let them know I see them and that if they attack, they may hurt me or even kill me, but they are going to get hurt themselves big time. I then look all around me for a rock or any weapon and they see this and know that I am mentally gone into a "fight to death" mentality. I think this generally works.
