Spanish Deputy Prime Minister Yolanda Diaz reacted to the European Union's (EU) freezing of development aid for the Palestinians, saying, "This decision is a betrayal of the founding principles of Europe."

Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares also conveyed his dissatisfaction with the decision to his counterparts in the Commission, noting that the decision was taken without consulting the member states.
