If someone overvalues their assets to get loans, big whoop. It’s the lender's job to fetch appraisals to verify.

If I tell a bank my house is worth a million and I want a half million dollar loan on it, but it’s only worth a half million, don’t you think the bank would pull comps or send out an appraiser and come back with a big fat “nope”?
