Low caliber guns,it's possible to "eat" a bullet and keep going long enough to kill someone. Even a "headshot" can simply graze the skull and not do any real damage. Which is why you keep shooting til they drop,not once you hit them.

Blunt force trauma to the head,however,is usually effective at knocking out the target. It's why sucker punching is so effective. However,a dog that's latched on is harder to knock out because it's head is hard to move and that means jiggling their brain with a punch is nearly impossible. If you ever have a dog latched onto you,immediately jam your thumb into it's eye socket and destroy the eye. If the sudden painful trauma doesn't stop the dog,go deeper into the brain.
