Do Android or Apple phones allow you to turn off Emergency Alerts? I run GrapheneOS and it seems very simple to turn off

Do these setting not exist in normal Android? How about iPhones? GrapheneOS is really Android under the hood that has been properly hardened and locked down so I assumed that the functionality exists in some form in stock Android.

So for folks running a standard smart phone OS - Can you really not turn off Emergency Alerts and Presidential Alerts? I have heard people talking about how you can't turn it off. I guess I will see in a few hours if GrapheneOS really does respect the user or not.

For those interested, GrapheneOS did indeed allow me to turn off the alert. I once again endorse GrapheneOS and encourage everyone to look into it. All the benefits of a modern smart phone but with real control. If felt so good when I excised google. Everyone should do this

For those that asked, on GrapheneOS I have the following options:

- Allow alerts: On/Off - If 'off' the below settings are all toggled off and greyed out

- National alerts: On/Off - National warning messages
- Extreme threats: On/Off - Extreme threats to life and property
- Severe threats: On/Off - Severe threats to life and property
- AMBER alerts On/Off - Child abduction emergency bulletins

Android 11 doesn't have the option to disable national alerts, but I can turn off all the other ones you mentioned. I have every single option for wireless alerts disabled and still got the test alert.

Yes, and no. You can turn off the amber and most emergency alerts, but there is a type of alert that passes through. They tested it in 2020, i believe it may even pass through rooted phones.

Thanks for the reminder.
I switched off the emergency alerts, so I expect I won't "get the memo".
I'm using a rooted Android 11 phone with a custom ROM.

Just put your phone in airplane mode during the test. Turns off the radios.

Also, what's the big deal about this test? Does it have a hidden payload? Will it make all the vaxtards spontaneously combust?
