Alecia Beth Moore was born on September 8, 1979,[8] in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, to emergency room nurse Judith Moore (née Kugel)[9] and insurance salesman James Moore.[10][11][12][13] She has described herself as an "Irish-German-Lithuanian-Jew",[14] and identifies as Jewish[15][16] (her mother is Jewish).
