A 32-MINUTE VIDEO?

No fucking way I'm watching that shit.

Post an article or GTFO.

Fuck your click-gathering.

I skipped around on the video looking for footage of an impressive battery fire. It’s just some guy yakking in his garage.

Tesla's factory in Austin, Texas. I still have friends and family that travel through Austin.

Teslas, and electric battery cars, are BOMBS.

The batteries, when engulfed in flames, burn to a point hotter than any chemical or gasoline or petrol fire can burn. If you are trapped inside a burning car, there's a pretty decent chance that you can survive and live a fulfilling life if you get to the hospital in time. With a Tesla car fire, if you're trapped inside, YOU'RE DEAD. The fire burns so hot that exposure to any parts of the body might require amputation.

Modern fire departments don't even have procedure or containment measures for these electrical death traps. You can't spray the batteries with foam or water - BOOM. You can't move the initial impact site, so if it engulfs any neighboring structures, they'll focus on putting those out first. The only way to stop these fires is to let the entire fire burn out, a process that could days to up to a week and some change.

There's some places on the main highways in and around Austin where these fires have started. They burn so hot, they scorched the pavement and even in some cases, left craters a few inches to a foot deep.

I love technology and innovation as much as the next guy, but the electrical vehicle craze is just that, a fad. There's not enough safety features built into those vehicles that would ever allow me to get behind the wheel of one.

Thank you.

There's a battery shop I went to once in the military. They showed me around a bit. In it, they had a bad-battery disposal area.

Looked like a bomb disposal unit with all sorts of safety equipment and thick metal between you and the battery. Batteries can do all sorts of crazy shit, explode, spit, fume, fire, or all at once. And that's just normal-sized batteries.

Nothing can be done once the batteries get to that point.

At best all you can do is cover it in dirt, attempt to contain the fire, and wait.

For large fixed installations, chemical batteries are STUPID. Gravity energy storage is superior. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQSOj-LfaSE

That doesn't make sense to me.

There is a lot of stored energy in an elevated 30 ton brick. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHmJ_t2EneM
