I feel ya. Not a history teacher myself but I did have one of those moments with a history teacher when I was in 10th grade. He told me to shut my book and he proceeded to teach me about J. Edgar Hoover and how the United States is run on blackmail. A real eye opener for a 16 year old.

The feds staged and filmed a fake moon landing. This was done as a backup. The mission succeeded but the rumors persist because there was a Hollywood production. The faked landing does not invalidate the real one.
