Weird because that meme began its life as real

Vsauce on the left.

Comcast blocks this domain.

I have reported this to them and have gotten no response.

Stop using their modem/router, and stop using their DNS.

[ - ] SocksOnCats 0 points 7 monthsSep 23, 2023 12:55:34 ago (+0/-0)

Is the modem blocking it? I use their modem because I have a business connection and it's better to pay for their service to the modem than have the responsibility on me for troubleshooting and such. Ya ya it sounds pussy and ignorant but it's more efficient when there's a problem. They can't ever say to me "It's your equipment causing the problem."

And as far as the DNS, I don't think I am using theirs. I need to check on that and right now I'm feeling lazy. I'll check it later.

Wouldn't they be blocking domains further upstream though?

Is the modem blocking it?

From my understanding (which could always be wrong), yes. Their modems are pretty much black boxes from a user perspective, and make up part of their "Advanced Security" system. When you change those settings on your account, it pushes those to the modem. This distributes the resource load further out, rather than needing more horsepower for all of that at a central location to manage all of those accounts.

I know that when there were all the issues with Catbox being blocked by them, that was the problem. Disabling the "Advanced Security" settings on your account was the way around it. But if you don't even have their modem, you don't have that "service" (I use the term laughingly), and there's nothing to disable. I always used my own modem, so I never noticed anything being blocked when others were getting fucked over by it. So from what I can tell, it's definitely a local blocklist on the user's side of things.

Using your own modem saves you on their rental fees (which are bullshit to begin with). And as much as people bag on Comcast, and with very good reason, reliability was never an issue that I had.

As for the business connection, you're mostly just paying extra. It all goes over the same infrastructure, so if there's a physical problem, it's going to affect you just as much as the next guy. The only difference is you're gonna get a truck roll faster, possibly have an SLA, and when congestion is high, you might get priority. They probably require their equipment on a business connection, but like I said, the benefits are dubious at best. You also get a static IP, but you can get those on residential as well.

Wouldn't they be blocking domains further upstream though?

They could, but that would just entail blocking at the DNS level. If they blocked IP addresses, it would be a never-ending cat & mouse game. If you don't use their DNS servers, then this isn't a problem for you.

And speaking of DNS servers, it's pretty easy to do all of that yourself. Then you don't have to worry about whether or not your chosen public DNS provider is going to play the censorship game or just go offline outright. I've got a Pi Zero sitting in the corner running Pi-Hole and Unbound. DNS requests go to Pi-Hole first to see if the domain is cached, or if it's on my filter list (in which case the request is blocked). If Pi-Hole doesn't know about it, then it kicks the request over to Unbound (which will ignore all requests that don't come from Pi-Hole on localhost). If Unbound doesn't have the result cached, then it contacts one of the root servers directly. No CloudFlare, no Google DNS, no Quad9, etc. Then you just have your router (or whatever else takes care of DHCP on your network) use the Pi-Hole IP as the DNS server when it assigns addresses to devices.

I'm pretty well retarded and got all that setup in under an hour, so it's definitely not hard.

Edit: Bonus of running my own equipment is that when I ditched Comcast for fiber (local telco), all I had to do was unplug the WAN cable from the modem, plug it into the ONT, and reboot the router. Done in 2 minutes with no equipment to return and no worries about them charging me for "unreturned equipment" because they lost it at their office.

The site is a fork of an imagehost application called "lolisafe." The string "lolisafe" still appears in the code, which is most likely what's triggering the hits on both Malwarebytes and VirusTotal.

The code itself is on github if you want to take a look at it.

Basically, the site owner needs to stop being retarded/lazy, and replace all the relevant code strings so the malware scanners don't assume it's malware or illegal content.

The question then remains why does AOJew have an imagehost with "loli" in the code's DNA as an upload location...

[ - ] Conspirologist -2 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 15:32:44 ago (+0/-2)

I don't believe in stupid or lazy site owners. If their site is flagged as malicious, fuck them.

[ - ] MasterSuppressionTechnique [op] 0 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 20:45:10 ago (+0/-0)

And if it is used for censorship? Have you not considered that many sites are blocked in the US for the same reason? Censorship? Because it has loli in it, it is being censored, whether or not it is dangerous or not. "Dangerous" means informationally dangerous, in this instance, and not malware dangerous.

The fact that you don't understand the difference is suspicious, given how much time you spend reposting stuff not to have figured out how fedboi censorship 101 works.

[ - ] MasterSuppressionTechnique [op] 1 point 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 09:49:43 ago (+1/-0)

Not a chance. Malwarebytes is wrong or engaging in censorship, I'm pretty sure.

Unless you can explain how it could possibly deploy from a jpg.

[ - ] Conspirologist -2 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 10:24:50 ago (+0/-2)

It's not only MB. I've scanned with VirusTotal too. You must be retarded or a shill.

[ - ] MasterSuppressionTechnique [op] 1 point 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 10:54:35 ago (+1/-0)

Listen, dick, I used pic8.

If anyone is a shill, it is you who has 24/7 to post on the Internet in between your jack off sessions, so don't go being retarded when I know exactly who you are and I've never talked shit once on any of the sites you frequent.

Antivirus software is being used as a censorship. Also, Malwarebytes is shit and has been compromised for years.

Again, unless you can explain how a fucking jpg can deploy malware, YOU ARE THE RETARD in this equation.

IF... and I mean IF... there is actually malware associated with this link, then I'll simply stop using pic8.

But, I suspect you are too retarded to understand how anything technological really works.

[ - ] Conspirologist -2 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 10:59:01 ago (+0/-2)

You must be retarded or a troll.

[ - ] MasterSuppressionTechnique [op] 0 points 7 monthsSep 22, 2023 20:43:01 ago (+0/-0)*

In other words, you have no idea how malware can be deployed by the link? You just trust the spyware on your computer? lol

There are not enough reliable image posting options. Imgur and reddit are the most reliable, in that their content will stay the longest, BUT you have to hope you dont' get censored, first.

Catbox? Sucks. Doesn't always work. Images expire.

Pic8? Better, especially since you can cut and paste into it.

No matter what you use, someone's panties get put into a twist because it isn't their favorite fed op.

Like you...

What do you use? Catbox?

catbox.moe is flagged by multiple entities for malicious activity.

By your own logic, that makes you a shill or a troll.
