I like how vegans argue that humans aren't actually designed to eat meat pointing out that we have teeth for eating plants, never mind that we also have teeth built for eating meat. Yet straight up herbivors will eat meat when given the chance. There is no such thing as "not evolved to eat meat." There's just not evolved to pursue eating meat as a primary strategy.

It’s always been weird to mean how animals can eat other animals bones and all and it doesn’t mess up their guts.

You could eat a mouse too if you chewed it up reasonably well.

Yea buts the thing so many animals don’t. They just swallow shit whole.

Evolution, my dude. If you get hungry enough you'll digest shoe leather. Ain't that some shit?

Reminds me of the deer eating a snake.

Opportunistic omnivore. There was a video somewhere of a cow eating a pigeon too, I think.

Yes but herbivores dont have the metabolism for getting the most out of animal protein, generally its because of boredom and convenience or starvation.

Deer often can't receive all of the needed nutrients from their standard diet, so it's not uncommon for them to gnaw on carcass bones for the calcium, phosphorus, sodium, etc.

Deer do not often eat meat, they are herbivores, not opportunistic omnivores.
They often lick rocks and or wade in mud pits as do other herbivores during certain times of year. They practice geophagy to get the salts in hot months and other trace minerals they might be lacking in periodically.

This new tlol compulsion to convince users that strict herbivores just eat meat all the time is ridiculous.

phosphorus, iron, zinc, and calcium

Sodium chloride (salt) is especially important, as deer actively seek it out in spring to balance the high water content in green grasses.

Trace mineral salt contains mostly salt, which is what the deer are actually looking for, and various other trace amounts of minerals such as zinc, manganese, iron — all of which are found in hardened deer antler.

Yeah so its seasonal for antler growth and they don't just go around eating squirrels or wolves you nonce.

I never said they often eat meat, I did not imply that they are carnivorous at all, or even omnivorous- simply they are known to chew bones for the minerals in the morrow. Deer will very rarely eat meat, and it's a sign of distress or abberational aggression, and definitely not normal.

Your theory on bucks chewing bones for supplental antler growth is dandy and probably holds truth to it, but the phenomenon has been observed in both sexes, in all seasons. In any case, not much can be factually said about it because it's not particularly well documented, and it's virtually unstudied. It is believed that it's far more common than originally thought, and not abberational behavior.

You know what behavior is well docemented and studied? Acting openly belligerent after putting words in someone's mouth. It's a favored tactic of neurotic kikes, narcissists, and people with poor reading comprehension. Fuck off with that antisocial crap. It was a simple comment for discussion.
