Should just use a really hard captcha system for free posts if he wants to stop bots and offer the choice to bypass the captcha system for a monthly fee.

I think a separate site where you can put a message behind a captcha system and ask someone to solve the captcha and post your message if you suspect someone is a bot would also go along way to stop people interacting and wasting energy on bots in general and not just on X
