Y'all didn't hear this from me, but sell your bananas and invest in potatoes.

When SHTF you're gonna need cryptopotato!

START USING IT NOW!

ITS TOTALLY NOT CONTROLLED BY THE SHECKLERS!

You're a specialist

Stop making it about you!

Incredible process. I have been to the farms in Idaho but never gave too much thought to this step in the process. People don't grasp how much of a blessing industrial technology is. Machines are taken for granted. Thank you for sharing.

We run about 90k lbs a day.

I took a tour of one of these places in the 80's. Doesn't look much different from then.

FYI, Washington State produces more potatoes than You'da'ho.

No doubt, this machine is probably that old.

It is a pretty cool process. I did some work at a Simplot plant in Tasmania.

The guy told me that mcsoynalds makes them throw out any potatos that have eyes or green color on them.

Because people are conditioned to believe they should look a certain way.

He never runs out of potatos at his house.

Now, potato posting I can get behind!

Potatoes are the best. Bananas have nothing on potatoes, not even potassium.

Potatoes rock. Bananas suck.

Now about those potato UFO vidjeeyahs

What I wouldn't give to be able to design an automated line like that.

[ - ] FacelessOne [op] 3 points 1.7 yearsSep 18, 2023 18:28:12 ago (+3/-0)

The pneumatic box timings are especially neat 7 valves with some co triggered, others domino others triggered with switches. The scales are old-school so when the valves or chains aren't failing its pretty glorious.

The grader photo machine times kickers along the 8 box lines and 3 tote lines to get out grades to the right place. I'll have to do a more detailed video for it's complexities.

Then we drop the typical consumer grade totes into the hopper for the Volm machine which is for doing bags. It's new and not nearly as cool because it's small and has more computerized shit.

Very fun post, thank you FO.

Interesting. What are they washed in, any soy poison?

[ - ] FacelessOne [op] 3 points 1.7 yearsSep 18, 2023 20:22:55 ago (+3/-0)

We don't clean them. The water ferry is just for easy unloading, fed to the pit, impeller shoots them up to first line of quality control belts then rollers.

Potatoes are covered in dirt and fertilizer, smells like a farm out back in the wastewater collection, I pump it out to a field a couple football fields away. The sediment builds up and is just tossed on old railroad tracks out back.

[ - ] Oldmancountry 1 point 1.7 yearsSep 18, 2023 20:35:49 ago (+1/-0)

Really cool, reminded me of a sawmill I worked at. Find you a neighborhood to sell the sediment? Bet it grows good grass.

[ - ] FacelessOne [op] 2 points 1.7 yearsSep 18, 2023 21:03:23 ago (+2/-0)*

It does great for the grass, I can't believe they don't have a potato farm out back given the "spoiled" spuds that could be seed potatoes and the amount of daily water pumped out.

The path the kabuto takes to dump it is prestine.

I am definitely gonna bag it up next load for frens n family.

Magic potato dirt.

You may like the games Factorio and Satisfactory.

I need a PC upgrade, those games are very autistic and fun by the few videos I've seen. My PC is just to old to run without getting bogged down I fear. Maybe sometime this year I'll upgrade.

[ - ] PotatoWhisperer2 0 points 1.7 yearsSep 19, 2023 05:46:36 ago (+0/-0)

Factorio could run on a toaster.

I like to imagine they are little jews, on their way to the final solution.
