anyone have any Palmetto State Armory brand firearms? anyone have any opinions on their rifles? specifically the AKs? they have better prices and a lot more options than the legacy brands. does the quality stand up?
PSA is by far the highest quality you can purchase at an affordable price. The craftsmanship and construction being much better than their competitors that charge 2x-4x more.
You can not go wrong with PSA. Ten years ago they were a well kept secret, now everyone and their dog knows about them and despite this they still maintain the mission of providing quality arms at extremely affordable prices. It says a lot about them as they could be charging far more.
Don't hesitate to use their company. I can not recommend them highly enough. No one else even comes close. They have better metal than Remington, colt, Daniel defense you name it. I've never had any issue with PSA ammo or arms, been a long time client of theirs.
I have a BCG from them. Holds a firing pin, and extracts brass and steel just fine. I did get some false charges on my credit card a few weeks later, at the time that was a known issue shopping at PSA, not sure if that aspect has been “fixed”, so consider a prepaid or some card companies will give you a temp card number related to your real account
I bought an upper when it was on sale. Given I have multiple AR's: Noveske, Colt Competition, etc, I have not gotten a single round through the PSA. Quality looked OK to me, and I've never heard otherwise.
I was wondering about the dirt cheap 6.5 Creedmoors from Bear Creek Arsenal. Not sure I need another caliber, but my buddy's is soft shooting and he bangs steel over 1000' yards out with his as that round outperforms the 5.56 in a big way.
I haven't shot my PSA AK a lot (less than 500 rounds), but so far it's fantastic. I have a Gen 3 (didn't come with a cleaning rod). Sight was way off from factory but was able to be zero'd no problem. It shoots great. Would recommend.
I have a .300 BO, and another AR-15 from PSA also.
Only problem I've had was with the .300 BO handguard loosening up. That was their first in-house produced handguard and have since changed design.
After cranking it down to the point it distorted the handguard, it hasn't come loose since and has not affected accuracy. I still plan on replacing it in the future.
EDIT: If you like accessories, I highly recommend the Strike Industries J-comp for the AK. Absolutely worth it.
