I would go so far as to say that he's almost as good as Tony Rice was at flat picking, and that's high praise. He's definitely reinvigorating bluegrass, and people need this kind of music right now.
I don't know Tony enough to compare, but i did see Billy play Tony's guitar at the Winston Salem show. He was so honored to play it. He's the real deal, can't wait for th greensboro show.
Tony Rice is widely considered to be the best flat picker to ever pick a bluegrass tune. If you're uninitiated, I'd highly recommend checking him out. The Pride of Man is a good place to start, but I would absolutely recommend everything he's ever played.
