I'm not certain that they could legitimately pin it on Christians since the Foundation Stone is an important Christian site as well. Explosives would cause damage to the site. Although unpopular, Israel would just decide to demolish the mosque all together along with mass incarceration/deportation of Palestinians and Muslims they don't like.
