I’m in a real butt-rock mood tonight. Gonna throw it back.

That's Thrash, not buttrock. Fairly decent too.

Buttrock is defined by formulaic mainstream bands like Bon Jovi, U2, Foo Fighters, Creed, Three Doors Down, Puddle of Mud, Five Finger Death punch, and the king of the genre- Nickelback.

The origin of the term was some DJ of a hit rock station that played the same tripe all the time, and said something along the lines of "We play nothing but rock", and people jabbed back by calling it buttrock.

If you wanna get technical, it’s groove metal, which is a combination of thrash and hardcore. I know my shit, as I don’t think a person who would refer to something as “buttrock” in a literal way would post a song that isn’t well know from a niche band who isn’t well known.

I always got made fun of by my music snob friends who listened to Roxy Music and The Pixies for liking metal. They always called me a butt rocker. There aren’t a ton of metalheads here, and I don’t listen to metal constantly anymore, thus the “buttrock” reference.

But nonetheless, thanks so much for listening and I’m glad you liked it!

Haha, 'twas a good song. I almost said Thrash/Groove, but thought it'd be pretentious... and let's be honest, it already was. I am a true metal snob and don't do much to hide it. You're absolutely right as well, but I avoid "hardcore" becauase the term can refer to both metal and electronica.

If you're a true metalhead, then I want to swap songs with you like I do with Dangus!

😂 Sometimes it’s inevitable when you’re a music snob (which I obviously am). We’re both in the same boat. Cheers!

Haha, I'm drunk and edited the shit out of that comment. Read it again and respond again!

I like the music but not the singer. Don’t care much for the screaming stuff. Methinks they are trying to do some Pantera level shit but failing. Overall, not bad.

Thanks for listening! I understand; the “no clean singing” thing can be a drag sometimes. I guess there’s a time and place for everything and I’m having a day where I need this! It’s so great to be able to come here after an annoying day, isn’t it?

Oh shit, I’m telling ya. Mostly though, and I guess it’s cause I’m getting old, I will unwind by preparing dinner and listening to a whole album from say, Accept, or JP, or an early AC⚡️DC cd. Maybe some Motörhead.

[ - ] dingbat [op] 2 points 7 monthsSep 12, 2023 00:57:13 ago (+2/-0)

All of the above, but AC/DC with Bon Scott=Yes.
Bomber by Motörhead is one of my favorite songs of all time.

I like all AC/DC, but Bon, yes!
Bomber. Is that the one with the B-17 graphics in the video?
Lemmy was a huge WW2 buff and had a massive collection of Nazi shit in his crappy appartmemt down the street from The Rainbow When he died.
I saw Motörhead in Chico at the Brickyard in like 1997? Saw them again opening for Maiden in Sac

I’m so jealous you got to see them play a couple times—AND Maiden! I never did, unfortunately.

I’ll never forget the first time I saw Motörhead on TV My dad was a huge Scorpions fan and there was this late night show called ‘In Concert’. I was like 11 and my dad was my BFF, so he let me stay up late to watch with him. The lineup was Motörhead and the Scorps. All of a sudden they start playing and I got SO EXCITED. I was just blown away. I was like, “Dad, these guys are SO COOL,” and he was like, “ummmm, really?” 😂 Poor dad. He thinks Disturbed and Godsmack “ROCK” hahahaha.

I loved Lenny’s fascination with WW2 and NS stuff. Have you watched his documentary? His apartment was such a shithole lol.

I saw Iron Maiden twice, I think, it was a long time ago. I really dig their first two albums the most. I don’t go to concerts anymore, dod see that documentary with Lemmy in his trashed out apartment, what a kick! Fuckn love him. Damn, what a fucking metal badass!
There always a Rolling Stone article I read years ago where the interviewer states Lemme kept taking knife blades of crank to the nose during the whole thing in his apartment. You know, “Motörhead” means “speed freak”, right?

Your dad sounds cool as shit. I did the same kind of stuff with my kids when they were little. As a result, they are rockers and not nigged out on rap shit.
Hah! Godsmack. Saw them once, actually in Davis at Freeborn Hall. Small venue, 98 Rock put it on, I think.
Disturbed. Not much to say about them.
Just how old is your dad? He’s gotta like better shit than that!🤣
