My son is getting old enough that he helped me disassemble his old bed for the new one I built him. He loves to help me with tools, and he's very eager to get involved in just about anything. Breaks stuff more than I'd like, but I have a feeling that will be a recurring theme... and I'm good at fixing, so...
I'm part of a patent for a product that is still the most widely used product in its sector. I've gotten degrees, accolades, whatever. I've partied hard and traveled far... Having kids is the single most fulfilling thing I've ever done with my life. Of course there are challenges like any venture, but the rewards are overwhelming, and even after a few years it's enriched my life to such a point that I have a bit of regret in forgoing it for so long.
I don't get mad at people enjoying their lives without kids, but I may get annoyed at the arrogance, hubris, and ignorance at the suggestion that, just because I'm not doing those things or it might be more difficult for me to do those things now that I have kids... that I'm somehow "missing out" or their lives are so much better. Anyone, at anytime, can be a worthless, drunk, partying self-absorbed asshole. It's about the easiest and least compelling type of person you can be - devote all of your mental and emotional capacity to yourself. You can even do that when you have kids - there are bad parents everywhere. But to suggest someone else is "missing out" because they've decided to look beyond themselves and their own life and pleasures is just that ever-so-obnoxious combination of retarded and arrogant (which makes you confidently incorrect). That's the annoying part. Particularly because there is immense happiness and fulfillment derived from raising kids - much more than can ever be achieved by a life of partying til the music stops and you're dried up, ugly, 50+ years old with nothing to show for it.
Don't you remember going out in your early 20s and seeing that token "old dude" there? Y'know, the guy that's clearly pushing 45, but he's dressing like he's 25 and drinking and partying like it too? I remember seeing every person like that as a cautionary tale. There's more to life, and kids enrich it beyond anything you can understand apparently, if you really think they make you miserable.
