Yea looks like a "red to black, black to red" sitiation. I was trying to discharge my truck once by connecting the positive/negative cables with some 18 gauge wire, and I accidentally shorted the battery posts with said wire. Instant wire evaporation and searing of my fingers holding the wire. Pretty badass, ngl. Have always been more careful.

Oh yea the corrosion on my mower battery posts got so bad once it grounded out to the metal retaining bracket and tack welded the positive wire to the bracket. Easy to break because no gas protection, but still... wrapped that fucker in electrical tape after that. A smarter me would've noticed the bad design and risk earlier, but I was not that man.

At minimum you should be teaching your daughter how to change a flat, jump start a car and split a guys balls in two.
