My processed food intake is probably at 5% and that 5% is some canned beans, bread I didn’t bake and maybe some tortilla chips once in awhile. And, I read labels on everything. No conditioners, no soy bean oil, no modified food starch or cellulose fiber, no maltodextrin dextrin.

I use conditioners for my hair…

I tried the Keto diet for almost a year, it works but Paleo works just as well if not better. Your brain needs a few carbs. Maybe you know this but if you don't eat carbs your body will turn fat and protein into glucose anyway, and carbs are usually less expensive.

[ - ] Gigglestick 2 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 13:32:38 ago (+2/-0)

Keto is great for initial weight loss if that’s what you’re seeking from certain indulgences (too much beer, snacking, etc.) to diminish. Long term isn’t viable. Intermittent fasting is more my style now.

[ - ] allAheadFull 1 point 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 17:37:52 ago (+1/-0)

Intermittent fasting FTW. I've been sick and it's the only thing that makes be feel better. It's really hard to do at first but I have gone as long as six and a half days. That's probably too long, 40 to 48 hours seems about right.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 8 monthsSep 5, 2023 22:49:47 ago (+0/-0)

Six and a half days.

That is awesome. Supposedly there are additional benefits by going 3 to 5 days but I can’t last that long!

[ - ] allAheadFull 0 points 8 monthsSep 6, 2023 01:46:50 ago (+0/-0)

Thanks, I take vitamins so that's probably cheating, but regular fasting makes it easier just like any other exercise. Avoiding sugar and artificial sweeteners in the interim makes it easier too.

[ - ] Sal_180 2 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 08:28:21 ago (+3/-1)

That sounds disgusting tbh. We're supposed to eat a variety of foods, it's easy to keep a balanced diet

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 09:53:53 ago (+3/-3)

That is very anabolic. It is a diet that will give you very good short term health and vigor but is not for longevity.

There is a basic trade off in diet between short term vigor and strength and long term health. As you age you want to cut back on protein, especially sulfur based aminos, which damage DNA. Eating fruits and veggies with high anti-oxidant compounds is important. This protects the DNA. You could take supplements with anti-oxidants if you don’t want to eat all the plants.

I must be reading the second chart wrong or the chart is wrong. There is zero chance the average person is consuming 21% of their diet in sugar. I understand all the lard-asses that exist, but I cannot accept 21%.

^What he said.

I'm actually surprised the percentage is as low as 21%. Considering that most meals I see people eating are over half carbs I'd expect the percentage of sugar/carbs to be over 50%.

When I'm good about my diet, I only pig out on carbs the same day I wake up and run 5 miles. This means my body is in a glucose starved state and when I eat said carbs my body immediately burns them and they don't spike my insulin levels like the literal poison they otherwise are.

I would think some of that would fall under "refined wheat".

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 19:25:17 ago (+0/-0)

Sugar is not bad. Its a necessary macronutrient, You just need to moderate it.

[ - ] NaturalSelectionistWorker 1 point 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 13:19:31 ago (+1/-0)

You might be forgetting how often people drink soda, juice, energy drinks, mixed cocktails and bitch beers, etc.

[ - ] Gigglestick 0 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 13:29:44 ago (+0/-0)

It’s not cane sugar specifically but a simple carb with quick energy release that doesn’t provide real nutrition.

Beer is life

Drink beer, live

Likely won’t live longer but your quality of life will be ……., fuck I can’t remember…., it’s starts with a p…oh ya prostitute..that’s it

Drink beer, hire a prostitute you cheap kike faggot….,

Amen

[ - ] Gigglestick 1 point 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 13:30:50 ago (+1/-0)

Drink beer, watch sportsball, don’t mind the persons behind the curtains.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 8 monthsSep 5, 2023 22:54:23 ago (+0/-0)

Beer has a trick. It makes you think it’s life, but that is an illusion. Quit beer, break the addiction, never miss it again. It depresses the ability to feel enjoyment in your sober periods, like when you fuck prostitutes for instance.

You can't exercise or diet it away? Is that true?

[ - ] Kung_Flu 2 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 13:52:20 ago (+2/-0)

Calories in, calories out is undisputable thermodynamics. However, if you can't metabolize the calories you take in then you will feel miserable and not move much and hungry and eat more.

[ - ] Wahaha 0 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 17:02:32 ago (+0/-0)

Easy fix is regularly eating hot food. Like actually hot. If you're not sweating it's not hot. The capsaicin helps with your metabolism. Also, you won't feel hungry.

[ - ] Kung_Flu 0 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 17:35:52 ago (+0/-0)

If the blue stuff is the main problem then it looks like coconut oil, butter, palm oil, lard, and olive oil are the best oils to use. I generally use butter and olive oil so I guess I'm doing alright.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 1 point 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 13:34:23 ago (+1/-0)

Olive oil is ok if its cold pressed extra virgin and dont cook with it. Balance it with enough fresh omega 3 sources like walnuts, chia, flaxseed in the form of ALA or get some DHA/EPA from fish or an algae oil supplement. Palm oil is a question mark for me because I think it depends on how it is processed.

[ - ] Hand_Of_Node 0 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 14:18:55 ago (+0/-0)*

I don't see avocado oil on the list. How does that compare?

And replace olive oil in the skillet with butter or avocado oil?

[ - ] TheYiddler 1 point 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 15:59:49 ago (+1/-0)

I wouldn't bother with avocado oil. Too expensive. Butter can handle low temp cooking but beef fat is best.

[ - ] Hand_Of_Node 0 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 17:02:23 ago (+0/-0)

Averaging quantity and claimed quality, butter and avocado oil both average out to 35-45 cents per ounce.

Found some beef tallow for $.96 per ounce, arriving tomorrow.

[ - ] Kung_Flu 1 point 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 17:38:28 ago (+1/-0)

Butter typically runs $0.25 per oz (weight). Avocado oil is generally much more expensive, about $0.70 and up per fl oz.

[ - ] Hand_Of_Node 0 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 20:41:11 ago (+0/-0)

For conventional commercial butter, yes. Better butters range up to over a dollar per ounce. The Avocado oil I currently use is 49 cents per ounce, but again, 'fancy' Avo oil can be pricey too.

Kevala Avocado Oil, 128 Fluid Ounce $45.40 ($0.35/Fl Oz)

Haven't used this one, but Kevala's toasted sesame oil is excellent.

[ - ] TheYiddler 1 point 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 23:12:47 ago (+1/-0)

Beef tallow is great.

[ - ] Ragnar 0 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 12:53:18 ago (+0/-0)

No on olive oil

[ - ] NaturalSelectionistWorker 0 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 13:14:31 ago (+0/-0)

Guess it depends on whether omega 9 is as bad as omega 6. If it's significantly less bad, then olive oil is better than soybean, cottonseed, and peanut oils.

[ - ] Ragnar 0 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 18:39:46 ago (+0/-0)

All omegas are bad

[ - ] observation1 0 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 03:41:00 ago (+0/-0)

Wait. Isn't omega 6 in the right ratio good?

[ - ] TheYiddler 0 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 07:34:21 ago (+0/-0)

Omega 3 is good. Omega 6 is bad. Rapeseed oil, aka canola oil, is the least bad seed oil because it has the most omega 3 and canola is the trade name of a low linoleic acid cultivar of rapeseed.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 3 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 13:21:20 ago (+3/-0)

Sorry to have to correct you. I used to think this. Alot of experts once advised this.

Omega 6 seems to be associated with increased inflamatory cytokines whereas omega 3 seems to supress inflamation. They are both fine in the right ratio although modern diets tend to have too much omega 6 and not enough omega 3, but....

Both omega 6 and 3 become oxydized and toxic when heated and create damage to your cells. To produce canola they heat the rapeseed at really high temps and add a bunch of chemicals to it as BoozyB says, which makes the omega 3 in canola (good for you in natural form) very bad to consume habitually. Canola is now believed to be one of the worst.

Omega 3 fats must be fresh and unheated because the molecule is not stable. Walnuts, chia seeds, flaxseed eaten whole or fresh cold pressed are good. I eat walnuts every day. Olive oil and avocado have alot of omega 6 but are still ok if you are getting enough omega 3 and the source is fresh or cold pressed.

Butter, coconut oil, lard are all saturated fats that are solid at room temp and dont become toxic when heated, because the molecule is very stable.

@Observation1

[ - ] Ragnar 0 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 18:40:39 ago (+0/-0)

Ha so you do listen once in while

Actually you are still half wrong. Omegas even if unheated and cold pressed, will oxidise inside the body. We are hot blooded mammalians not cold water fish.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 19:21:58 ago (+0/-0)

even if unheated and cold pressed, will oxidise inside the body.

Given that your body is full of the stuff, can you tell me the rate at which omega 3s break down at 37C?

We need omega 3. Being a fish is irrelavant. Omega 3 is required for brain function and both are needed to produce protaglandins and leukotrienes which function as immune signalling pathways. The level of oxidation is low and its an ESSENTIAL nutrient. Even the lipids in butter can oxidize somewhat. The point is to minimize it by not heating to 100C.

You’re going to fucking die if you dont take it. Its in your meat—youre going to quit eating beef because it has DHA in it? Be my guest genius. Eliminate all omega 3 and 6 from your diet because “we’re not fish”. This is dumb. Go look it up.

[ - ] Ragnar 0 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 21:39:35 ago (+0/-0)

Nah cunt, learn to read! You don’t need extra omega 3. You get the small amount you need in normal food. No need to douse your food with extra pufa or supplement with fish oil.
We are hot blooded and thrive on saturated fat our bodies are tropical within. Cold water fish need a lot of pufa or they can’t move.

I disagree with your statement about canola. Almost all food grade canola oil is extensively processed.
Canola seeds are harvested and processed to extract the edible oil. There are two main methods for extracting canola oil: mechanical press and solvent extraction. In mechanical press, canola oilseeds are pressed in a series of screw presses/extractors, leaving about 5-7% oil in the residual cake/meal. This pressed cake can be subjected to solvent extraction for further oil extraction. Almost all commercial canola oil is extracted using hexane, which is recovered at the end of processing. The canola oil is then refined using water precipitation and organic acid to remove gums and free fatty acids, filtering to remove color, and deodorizing using steam distillation. Cold-pressed and expeller-pressed canola oil are also produced on a more limited basis.1 Expeller pressing uses a press to physically squeeze the oil out of the seed, rather than using chemicals, with no solvents used in the process.

[ - ] NaturalSelectionistWorker 0 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 13:16:29 ago (+0/-0)

So expeller pressed is less harmful due to the lack of processing shit? Is there something similar to look for on olive oil?

[ - ] PostWallHelena 2 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 13:27:06 ago (+2/-0)

Cold extracted? I use Botticelli cold extrated extra virgin. Some of the boticelli varieties may not be cold extracted. I think alot of the “light” olive oils (non-virgin) are not and have been subjected to heat and solvents. I stay away from those.

[ - ] BoozyB 1 point 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 21:17:55 ago (+1/-0)

Yep. If it's squeezed out it's obviously better for you than if it's squeezed and then the last bits of oil are diluted with a petrochemical (hexane) to extract every last drop of oil, then mixed in with the 'pure' stuff.

[ - ] Ragnar 0 points 8 monthsSep 4, 2023 18:45:47 ago (+0/-0)

No, it’s still harmful. However, you can have some olive oil raw occasionally. Look for cold and mechanical pressed, extra virgin, mono crop and early harvest.
