True story...1994, Feb, in Jamaica on the cliffs of the west end, I get up at 7.00 am and see a bunch of JDF soldiers on my site, at first I didn't think anything of it until I didn't recognize any of them...I asked what was going on and they told me that "contraband" had floated to shore....due south of my point is Colombia, 900miles, 1 full tank of fuel for a Piper Aztec twin, Buffet landed his plane in the water near the "Caves" and was suspected of being there to collect the contraband which resulted in his sea-plane being shot up.....things were kept low key and swept under the rug, that's how it works in the 3rd world...I'm not stating that Buffet was in "control" of the floating cargo but he had a similar issue again a couple years later in Jan of 96. It was widely suspected that his "bootleg" tune Treetop Flyer was a commemoration to the 94 incident. The way it works in the 3rd world is that whenever contraband is being transported through whatever area the proper authorities have to be informed and compensated previous to the drop date...and there's a lot of theatrics involved too...I spent a lot of time at Buffet's Margaritaville in Negril, he did run a tight operation but they weren't the big money-makers that they appeared to be...but JB knew some heavy people.
