Rome was amazing, but I can't imagine planning a length of MMCCLXLVIII feet C times.

[ - ] BulletStopper 4 points 1.7 yearsAug 31, 2023 04:47:58 ago (+4/-0)*

...but I can't imagine...

It's a good thing they could then. But it wouldn't have been 70 "kilometers".
The so-called, quote, unquote, "metric system" still had yet to be invented yet by the descendents of that vile slave race, the gauls.

It would have been 47.3 mille passuum (roman miles), 94,594.6 steps, or 236,486.5 pedes (roman feet).

And don't even get me started on fucking "cubits".

I like my weird shit based on 12s and old dudes ideas and actual history and heritage.

Babylonian base 60 math system:

Too bad you still have to use their math, huh? 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour...

"Pythagoras' Theorem" (circa 500 BC) was 1,000 year old news to the Babylonians.

And don't even get me started on fucking "cubits".

Is that standard or royal cubits?

[ - ] BulletStopper 1 point 1.7 yearsSep 1, 2023 01:42:01 ago (+1/-0)

What part of, "...don't even get me started...", did you feel you had the most trouble with?

There is this habit where the only recordings that survive are formal (and final -- products, you don't carve the first draft into stone). My guess is that they used "Roman" numerals for occasions, as we do, and then when they actually had to do math they used some other form. It's not like forms of numerals are that hard to make up or learn, and they would have had ample other groups suggesting different methods.

Remember that impossibly large numbers are basically useless except as intermediate figures. For the rock to hit the road, measures have to be expressed in units a workman can find on tools. So if it said "pace XXXII" meters at the end, that's not the end of the world.

Speaking of which.
Just started learning freecad.

Any goats cad here?

[ - ] ModernGuilt 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 31, 2023 06:41:40 ago (+2/-0)

Freecad seems to be as good as it gets for free 3d software.

I could rant for an hour on the sad state off affairs for cad software. Its gotten worse after 25yrs. If you wanted only 2d, I would recommend pirating early 2000s AutoCAD. Everything new is shit

Youre not missing anything. Imagine that but paywall all the important features and make it all SaaS

Saas=software as a service. Aka make it all cloud based with a perpetual monthly cost

Luckily pirate Bay exists. Cracked versions of Ansys ftw.

Currently learning F360 for CNC certification at a trade school and brought up Free CAD on day one. Professor (who is part time teaching, full time machining) had never heard of it, but seemed interested in looking into it. He openly admitted that he didnt like the direction that AutoCAD had taken with F360, but didnt see FreeCAD as viable without a CAM software.

I have a book on FreeCAD that I bought on amazon and intend to dive into it. It seemed that for what it does, it does well, but it's rather barebones in it's features and not as intuitive as f360 is.

[ - ] mannerbund 1 point 1.7 yearsAug 31, 2023 10:04:35 ago (+1/-0)

F360 is a pretty slick tool. Now the free software is such a pain to use that I don't bother. $70/mo is steep for a hobby that I've not touched since last winter though.

I did fire it up to design the chicken coop I am building, and do use the CAM software heavily for CNC operations for um... things.

Used AutoCAD products for 20+ years before switching to an industry specific 3D alternative. AutoCAD is great for when you're learning but it has it's limitations. Revit is what you want to learn moving forward if you stick with the Autodesk family of products.

I only know enough to fuck drawings up. I'm great with my red pen though.

[ - ] mikenigger 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 31, 2023 07:03:37 ago (+0/-0)

you could fuck around with FreeCAD but Fusion 360 has a free version, it's kind of like using LibreOffice when everyone else uses Word

Use solid works them

[ - ] AryanPrime -3 points 1.7 yearsAug 31, 2023 09:14:49 ago (+0/-3)

rome was degeneracy masquerading as proper White culture

Rome was controlled by kike filth

Rome is just another word for "babylon"

none of you are romans...romans the way you understand it are just kike usurpers of White countries

it's the same story round andround and round

[ - ] usedoilanalysis 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 31, 2023 09:49:30 ago (+3/-0)

Look up Remus and Romulus. Rome was named after the legend of Romulus. The Vatican even has artwork depicting the wolf mother.

[ - ] AryanPrime -2 points 1.7 yearsAug 31, 2023 10:05:31 ago (+0/-2)

"the vatican"

A kike usurped creation from the start...remus = remphan, aka the star of remphan, aka satan, aka kikes

fuck off withy our promotion of subversive kike content under another name

[ - ] usedoilanalysis 0 points 1.7 yearsSep 4, 2023 08:39:37 ago (+0/-0)

Remus and Romulus ancestors were Trojans bruh.

[ - ] NaturalSelectionistWorker 1 point 1.7 yearsAug 31, 2023 11:45:22 ago (+1/-0)

Depends on what era of Rome you're talking about. Rome lasted for hundreds of years. The early years were rather based. Good times eventually bred weak men, and subversion by jews and their golem religion didn't help any.

"Engineers" that shit in the street. "IT" that shits in the street. "Programmers" that shit in the street. Can we deport all street shitters yet?

Oh sorry, I just don't like them.

[ - ] Ragnar 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 31, 2023 15:41:23 ago (+2/-0)

Why are you sorry?

[ - ] usedoilanalysis 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 31, 2023 09:46:41 ago (+2/-0)

Differential equations and slide rules work hand in hand. You can waste a lot of time defining the arc and area, whereas with a slide rule you can skip that and make a pretty good estimate of the curve area with basic algebra and trig, don't even need calculus.
