NATO was set up to effectively prevent what was then West Germany from ever being a fully independent nation capable of opposing the prevailing Western order. They did the same thing in Japam by writing a fucking constitution for them that renounces war permanently for the Japanese nation - in a neighborhood that includes China, Russia and North Korea.

In this context, your question makes little sense. Germany is just the modern incarnation of West Germany and is basically a vassal state. Germany attempting to leave NATO would essentially be a declaration of future war to the French. It would never be allowed to be even realistically talked about as an option let alone actualized as a reality.
