I’m in a predicament goats…

So… I work as a sous chef right now in a restaurant.

The hours are 3pm to 10pm for me.

I go to the gym M-F 9am-12.

Question is…

Should I get a second job in the morning and just work and make money…

Or should I just continue going to the gym and stick to my normal routine without much/little stress?

I make fairly decent money now.

I rent an apartment, have 0 debt, turn 31 this autumn, no girlfriend, no kids.

What do?

I want the money, but I also want to keep my body strong and active…

I hear roofers and demolition teams bust their ass if you want to find a 8am-1pm that is physically challenging, I'm sure they'd let you apprentice 4-5 hours a day before moving you up to roofing. Demo requires no apprenticeship and is safer than roofing.
Drywallers are up there in physically demanding, especially doing ceilings.

Bartending requires you to be on feet but no bar is open that early plus it introduces you to drinking and drugs.

If single you can also "make money" by downsizing your apartment into a truck with camper shell and use the gym to shower.

If you go this route you need to change your sheets constantly because your vehicle will start to smell like BO in no time and you won't be able to smell it.

You ride your bike to work now, or do you do public transport? If you don't, start now. Best shape i was ever in is when I started biking to work. That's how you can get your workout in.

Opportunity cost, and diminishing returns.

What you trade your time for is most important. You trade it for money and exercise. Trade some for pursuing a wife. Find a wife in the next three years. Don't marry until after six months.

More of the same provides decreased marginal returns.

Also don't make more working harder do something differently to do that.

Stop dicking around in the gym and get your workout done in an hour like a normal Chad.

You wait between sets to let your muscles rebuild energy levels. Otherwise it becomes a fat burning aerobic workout instead of a muscle building exercise.

Typical "correct" rest time is between 1-2 minutes. @ItsOk2bArian explained the reasoning well.

You can get real nerdy on it, there's a difference between how your body handles a 90 second rest cycle vs a 120 second rest cycle for example. I do 90 seconds for my own workouts.

I do yoga for an hour, lift for an hour, sit in the sauna for 15 minutes, trim my beard/other hygienic shit, shower, get dressed and wait the 10 minutes-ish for the bus.

Use your spare time to train for a job that makes more money, so you don't feel inclined to work two jobs. There's a big shortage of skilled labor right now.

switch to a more efficient workout routine that frees you up some days of the week.

use your free time to:

try out different employers and workfields

get a drivers license

earn some money. save up for a car and down payment on a house

visit some places outside of the city, and ponder moving there.

I have DUIs so it’s a little difficult for license. I have plenty of money, just not enough for a down payment or other shit.

Keep working out, but 3 hours is a little excessive. Not sure what you’re doing, but I can do mine in 1-2 and I take long breaks.

More money won't really help. A woman who only cares about money doesn't care about you. If having your own place and making good money isn't enough,the problem isn't money. You need to talk to people. Get to know them. Make friends. Practice your social skills. Just get out there.

Buy a neglected house in a decent neighborhood. Live in it and spend your mornings fixing it up. You'll get a workout, gain experience, and chances are you'll get a very good return on your investment. Bonus: When you're done, women prefer men who own homes. Added bonus: Should you choose to live together you can kick her out if she turns out to be crazy without having to deal with all the bullshit if you rented an apartment together.
