So the bales are probably either 5' or 8' tall. Assuming these might be kept in some kind of pole building, then you're not going to get a stack taller than the building (and probably sufficiently shorter than the building). I'd guess at most the hole he fell in could be 25 feet. I'm not a grain farmer, and I don't know what practices are like everywhere, but I figure it would be pretty impractical to go any higher than that. It was probably not 25 feet.

I think there are some optical/perspectival things going on here that make the hole look deeper than it is.

That said, each of those things could be pushing 1,000 lbs, give or take. It probably isn't a great idea to sandwich yourself between towers of them, with the highest pressure being on the bales at the bottom, and bales are wrapped up with tine. Just sayin. I'd be worried about the air at the bottom of that hole, too. When you get inside tight spaces with dead plant matter, the air can get 'thick'.

I'd think 3 high is about the max or you'd have trouble finding a high enough loader. But Wakanda is an advanced civilization and their barns have cranes that stack these over 200 feet high and process them out like a vending machine.
