Not right now. Don't have access to video games. I'm living the IRL world, and realizing that things could be improved if our society weren't weak. We like safety more than stability, comfort more than the free pursuit of happiness, kindness more than truth. In video games or movies we find a better world, a world where the element of violence exists with a degree of acceptability in our society. The nastiness of our rhetoric and the proliferation of untruths are both the result of too much peace. Prosperity abounds but bureaucracy makes it less and less accessible for most of us, by closing off the opportunities for us to acquire the lives we would choose for ourselves. I found myself a better way not by realizing I should do something to better myself, but by navigating through the walls of red tape to find the holes where I could find a future for myself.
this is a weird post. i know that most people want to live in a world that is perfect but till humans become perfect (without the cross, never) this will not be achievable anytime soon because we R imperfect creatures that will mess things up more often than not.
that's why communist failed and globalism and the new techno feudalism will eventually fail too.
this life is a big test for 8 billions souls. how you live and react to circumstances that comes your way will tell where are YOU going to head in the next world.
HUMAN MADE utopias will only bring death, misery and pain to humans because in our current state. we are not ready to handle it because our collective hearts are wicked.
Tell me how you think we can become our best selves to pass the test, or just tell us how to pass the test. You can't dodge the essence of the question, if you think the solution is independent from politics, then tell us what your solution is, I need details, something fleshed-out.
WEAK. You can't even muster the confidence to tell me because you are afraid it might upset someone on here.
So you just link me to a long-ass book that's difficult to read with enough interpretations to create warring factions and birth denominations out of denominations, it's not straightforward at all.
You aren't using it like a sacred text, for you, it's a shield that allows you to act like you are trying to be better while never giving us a peek at what you even consider to be your standard of "better".
At least the theologians of the past weren't too pusillanimous to give us their own takes, they described their Christian views in detail, try to summon up your Inner Augustine energy.
Did you know that for a long time the mainstream take of Christianity was that you shouldn't be reading the bible unless you were a part of the chosen priesthood?
I used to want to live in a comic book world for somewhat the same reasons. But I was a teenager then and I grew out of it.
It's better for you to man up, live your life with strength and integrity, and when death takes you, submit yourself to God for judgment and defend whether you tried to live a good life. He is endlessly merciful and loving.
I'm playing this old game called The Temple of Elemental Evil. The main town has 960 people in it and you can interact with about 2 dozen. God's walk the earth, magic is real. Monsters are at the gates. The peasants seem to live short, brutish lives a hairs breathe away from death. They cling to faith because they are rightly terrified of the world they live in. The adventures are not much stronger than an average person. It's one of the most realistic fantasy settings in DnD type settings and it is extremely difficult. I'll pass on going into that hellscape thanks.
When life is nasty brutish and short it is also far more fulfilling to live through.
On the rare occasions when you encounter joy, pleasure, or kindness it means so much more to you than the way it comes across to us being drowned in it today.
Depression stems out from a lack of novelty, it is boredom that kills the modern man's spirit.
We crave violence, danger, and adventure. One needs to taste both bitterness and sweetness for a full life.
