But in all seriousness, if anybody out here legitimately thinks our society is going to fall, you had better get yourself a decent archery setup (or two) and get good with it. While guns will certainly take down what you need taken down, they are loud and draw attention (yes, even with the whisper pickles).
Archery can save your life, and save the life of your family.
Arrows would actually have greater penetrating power against standard issue bulletproof vests, the pointed projectiles will be able to slide right in where bullets would not.

Or you just train to shoot at the upper thigh to belly button region. Or use a real round. Anyone taking a 308 to the chest wearing level 4 ceramic armor will be down long enough to get finished off easily. Even worse for someone wearing 3a soft armor.
Another thing to keep in mind is that psychology plays a role in how any fight is going to go down, when I was in my fight against five.
They could have easily just ganked me, but the fact that human beings don't make the ideal rational decisions once they find themselves in a fighting situation means that the movie/game scenario of a group of enemies waiting around for the hero to finish each of their friends individually rather than all rushing in at once actually has some grounding in reality of how these situations go.
This is especially when they are surprised and forced to think/act fast, and when you have a bunch of guys trying to intimidate one guy whose at a clear disadvantage, the fact that he's going to hit you rather than accede to your demands is going to be a surprise, you may be the ones starting the fight, but you never expected there to be a fight.
Now, once the fight starts, they might still just go all in to take you down, but that's usually when they see him focusing on only one of your crew and you can get behind him to strike while he is distracted with your friend, if the lone wolf starts wilding out and swinging at every member of your team who comes into range, then you are much less likely to move in since that means getting hit by that madlad you've collectively antagonized.
For one to fight off a group is not as "action movie fantasy" as it might seem, the element of surprise and defying expectations can throw even the best trained group into a chaotic mental state that renders them unable to deal with the threat in the best way they could.
Victory is more than just calculations and strategy, there's the human element of psychology that HAS to be factored into it, people are creatures of instinct (particularly emotion), not of reason.
