What's the best gun to defend yourself against grizzlies in Alaska in the wild? I'm thinking of pump action shotgun loaded with alternate buckshot and slugs?

Bear spray on the left hip .454 Ruger Alaskan on the right.

.50 Alaskan lever gun as a rifle option.

Slugs only if you want a shotgun.

That's how I load my shotgun when I'm in the woods hunting wild boar in Florida. 00 buckshot, pumpkin ball, 00 buckshot, pumpkin ball if that doesn't stop the boar then you're shit out a luck.

AR-15 with 300 Blackout. Great stopping power, semi-auto, and you can make it as tacticool as you want.

Probably also have some kind of semi-auto pistol with you too.

Shot placement is always going to be important no matter what you have.

Shotgun? Nice limited mobility. Completely useless if it rushes you.

Something you can carry on your hip, that is easy and quick to draw.
A shotgun you're liable to lay down, and thats when the grizzly will have a snack.

12guage with slugs is probably the best inside a tent but outside you'd want to stop a grizzly a couple hundred yards away...nothing less than a .300WM or Weatherby or .375mag.

I'd go with the pistol grip shotgun. 00buckshot in first and slugs loaded last. Then hope the slugs works first but if not the buckshot will help when you can't aim due to the stress of a 1000lb murder machine charging you.
