Trump's absence could mean Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a distant second in the polls, will become the focus of attacks from other candidates looking to position themselves as the primary alternative to the former president.

This is just how stupid Reuters reporters are. The others will all focus on Trump and Biden trying to distinguish themselves from the others. It will be a orgy of Trump hate and Biden bad. But no one will be watching so it won't make a big of difference.

If DeSantis would reverse course and go Vivek's way, his poll numbers would improve and he'd be the nom if they managed to get Trump out, which I doubt, but DeSantis won't.

The best play for a non-Trump GOP contender would be to back Trump's claims of election fraud, go hard core anti war and anti immigration, and discuss the media, including fox News, being the enemy of the people. But these fuckin' idiots are shortsighted and stupid, and rely way too much on polling "experts" to tell them what opinions to have to garner the most votes.

you haven't been paying attention. All of the GOP candidates (save Christie), have all came out in support of Trump. Even DeSantis to a lesser extent. They are right about Ron though. He will be the biggest fish on the stage and they will all focus on him.

Biden's absence from his own DNC debates (RFK Jr), will be a point of attack too.

If I remember correctly his argument is that his exclusivity to Fox only pertains to television and doesn't apply to the internet and particularly social media platforms.
