You can always say you're a troll here trying to kick sand in the gears. Hell 99% of the users here do that anyway. Probably over 50% are already antifa.

Could this be implemented at the server level or would that take too much of the servers resources to add it to every post?

[ - ] system 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 18:30:36 ago (+2/-0)

If you care about this type of stuff you should have already adjusted your browsing habits to circumvent it. Not every website uses no referrer, most do not. But couldn't hurt to implement it here. Give me a day or two. Or maybe tonight if I am feeling like it later.

browser extensions are not ideal as it can break some sites, also firefox on mobile is still limited to a small number of extensions which afaik doesn't include a referrer blocker, so it's worth doing it server-side

ClearUrls?
Or go to about:config type in referer.

[ - ] SecretHitler 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 19, 2023 11:01:56 ago (+0/-0)

Untested, but there appears to be a meta tag for this that would probably be much easier to implement.

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/49411355/no-referrer-meta-tag-doesnt-work

[ - ] Kozel 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 16:42:07 ago (+3/-1)

users should protect themselves by using a browser extension like clearurls.xyz

takes three clicks and 30 seconds

but none of you faggots do it

just like none of you have a water filter or bidet

[ - ] Sector7 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 17:16:59 ago (+2/-0)

Have re-enabled it. Had added several new 'privacy' tools and one or more of them caused problems, so I turned them all off. Hopefully clearurls wasn't the problem.

I do need a water filter, but I prefer active removal, and cleanup with soap and water. A bidet is not a substitute.

[ - ] Kozel -1 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 20:41:52 ago (+0/-1)

umatrix + cookie autodelete are the two extensions that mean the most

after those two I would put LocalCDN, LibRedirect, JShelter, Smart Referrer

after those Etag Stoppa, CSS Exfil protection

And lastly (((Coincidence Detector))))

[ - ] gaperglory 1 point 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 17:33:06 ago (+1/-0)

here's what you need
it's easy
you're a faggot

Thankyou for the browser ext, sincerely.

Browsers are bloated enough. A bidet would be overkill.

[ - ] lastlist 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 15:24:43 ago (+4/-1)

You can do that with your browser settings. Why should the admin be responsible for you?

[ - ] gaperglory 6 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 16:40:38 ago (+6/-0)

spoken like a truly selfish POS "Mehh... I can do this for me... Why should everyone be helped when im fine..." Note: Takes absolutely no time to explain how this can be done on your browser. "I'm fine, fuck you niggers."

[ - ] Kozel 1 point 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 16:43:13 ago (+3/-2)

spoken like someone that understands game theory and retorted by someone who doesn't.

[ - ] gaperglory 4 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 17:01:22 ago (+4/-0)

"Game theory" lol. Wanna explain that? hell... Wanna explain ANYTHING about the topic? Instead of assuming everyone is as well versed in cyber security as yourself? Truly id not only love to know, i need to know...
I have a degree in CIT, and i didn't know this. I'm sure there are a lot of others that didn't as well..

You're in the cybersecurity camp equivalent of 2nd week covidian "if everyone gets the vax we'll stop the curve"

I'm in the camp of I don't need a babysitter to wipe my ass.

You got a fucking problem? Implement a fucking solution.

It actually should be done at the browser level for everyone because it is a 100% useless feature that browsers shouldn't be doing. Same with user agents. Yeah user agents have value in sites being able to identify bots that want to identify as such, but in that case that bot should voluntarily put "I'm a bot" in their user agent. There is no reason why for humans every site you visit should know your OS and the exact build time of your browser down to the millisecond. Some user agent strings include absurd things.

This is a reason to not use chrome, because it gives them more browser user share, and therefor more say at the W3C, and therefor more likelihood "standardized browser behavior" is going to reflect the interests of advertisers and not the users.

So if you really care about this you should go into your about:config or whatever is the same for chrome and kill it for every site. Then you should change your user agent to the most common one https://www.useragents.me/. Or just clear it to nothing in protest.

While rel="noreferrer" is a relatively obscure feature I am surprised to hear it isn't being used here. It's such a simple change, would benefit everyone, and I cannot think of any reason to not use it immediately.

Fun fact: pomf2.lain.la blocks referrers from voat.xyz. I havne't tested upgoat tho.

[ - ] bobdole9 2 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 15:25:06 ago (+2/-0)

Seems catbox does as well...or its just me.

[ - ] Kozel -1 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 20:57:13 ago (+0/-1)

fun fact:

you can install an extension to block or spoof referrers

like Smart Referrer

First of all: Why would anyone give a steaming shit about any of my posts?

Secondly:"Looking @ my post history" You think anyone would want to be confused with me? I'm very sure NOBODY could fake, imitate,or come close to my abrasive yet,on-point comments.

[ - ] FacelessOne 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 13:55:15 ago (+3/-0)

You have much to learn young padawan

I'm sure gaypatriot would give you a reach around.

[ - ] Rotteuxx 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 12:44:43 ago (+3/-0)

If you're not taking steps to protect your real IP address from faggots like that, you kinda deserve it, no?

[ - ] FacelessOne 10 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 12:47:05 ago (+10/-0)

Pretending you can take precautions is a joke.

The internet is by it's technological nature unsecure.

Anything you do is only for your own ignorant peace of mind.

[ - ] Rotteuxx 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 13:19:47 ago (+3/-0)

From the govt, obviously not.

From SJWs, you can.

[ - ] FacelessOne 3 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 13:54:05 ago (+4/-1)

Fear is for damned souls who have not found Salvation in our Lord Jesus Christ.

[ - ] gaperglory 5 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 16:14:24 ago (+6/-1)*

jesus doesnt stop shanking and rapes in the federal penn. Fear is a GOD GIVEN instinct and one that should be analyzed and acted on when appropriate. If we have it, god gave it to us. We have fear of certain things. Wisdom determines which of these things we should be truly fearful of, and courage gives us the strength to overcome the ones we shouldnt.

Basically the serenity prayer.

[ - ] FacelessOne 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 17:47:21 ago (+0/-0)

Fear is for those who think life is within their control.

[ - ] Clubberlang 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 18, 2023 22:17:48 ago (+0/-0)

But a healthy fear of government is what keeps the republic alive.

[ - ] TheYiddler 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 19, 2023 05:26:36 ago (+0/-0)

Wrong. It is the government's fear of the public that keeps the republic healthy. The republic is not healthy.

[ - ] Clubberlang 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 19, 2023 23:25:53 ago (+0/-0)

My bad worded that wrong.

A healthy distrust
