Typically 'needing to pee' is what prevents you from falling back to sleep but is not what woke you up in the first place, hence a lot of the comments about apnea or caffeine, etc. but really it could be anything. The bottom line is that you are sleeping poorly. Figure that out and you will sleep through the need to pee for the most part.
In addition to the other suggestions I saw HIT THE GYM! It is likely that you are going to bed with a body that is just not that tired. On days that I have a good work out I am guaranteed to sleep a long and deep sleep. If you make exercise a regular part of your routine this problem will likely go away. (will probably also help with apnea if that is part of the problem)
8 hours of uninterrupted sleep is a modern myth. Waking up during the night is normal. Don’t let it upset you, just get up do your business, get back in bed, close your eyes and relax. Give yourself credit for being in bed with your eyes closed, this counts as rest. Don’t sweat the small interruptions. If you get mad about it then yes, your sleep is disturbed and you did it to yourself. Once you learn to not worry about it, accept it and relax, you’ll wake up rested and ready to go.
That used to happen to me if I drank 6-7 beers in the evening. But, yeah, most older men have that problem. They say it's from a swollen prostrate. There is a prescription drug you can get that reduces the urge to pee.
Speak with your doc but you can buy Lycopene at walmart. Not only will it shrink your prostate, it will make your sex drive go through the roof. Your wife will be like wtf. I would talk with a doc before taking it. You may have something else going on that needs to be looked at.
If your stream is diminishing, try saw palmetto tablets. It may help your other problem too. I take them and it takes about a month to see results. My doctor said that was good for mild cases.

It's easily rectified by cutting way down on caffeine. Wean yourself completely off it if you can.
