I make $23/hr with good overtime every week and im really feeling the squeeze. Ive been trying to save money for fencing materials to build a fence and buy goats to help clear out some bullshit brush and stuff but i havent even been able to make much progress.
for me here in Germany, tghe last nail in the coffin was a substantial hike in property taxes.
i had saved up almost enough money to buy a house on a piece of land that could feed a family, but the bnew property tax makes it so that i would have to pay that amount every five years.
The fast food thing pisses me off. You get ripped off now unless you use the respective app for the fast food place, then you can get "points" and "rewards" and shit like you're a stupid dog getting trained and rewarded for usimg your fuckin phone to get food.
Where the hell is milk $6? I’m in CA and it isn’t that bad. But yeah, service sucks, people are nigger lazy, packaging and product quality has gone to hell.
Lots of great locally grown organic food at the farmers market, and 'natural foods' markets abound. It's probably been 10 or 15 years since I've been in a conventional grocery store.
Instacart was pretty much the only source of food during the covid hoax. The shoppers let you slide without a mask at your front door because of their need for tips and good ratings.

Thanks. I should check the page after posting.
I'd love to have a garden again, but I'm not paying an extra $4000 per month for that much space. I do have a container garden for hot peppers and other plants.
Just keep it local as we can.
Same here. Everything I need is within a 15 minute walk, or 20 minutes for Trader Joe's. The beach is 8 minutes. The farmers market is about 10 minutes.
No but clown world is just as miserable if not worse even if you have money.
I say worse because I've been poor before and while it sucks the immediate problems of paying your bills can at least distract you from the deeper societal issues that deeply offend your soul.
You can do that without money. Might make it easier but example and force works pretty well. I did that back in 2007-8 living in a shit but incredibly affordable place .No awards I just got a better neighborhood for it.
Moved and now the whole area is drugs and all it did was spread whats that word.. demoralization thats it. Resident bitch was gone and no one had the balls to step in.
Even now I almost don't care enough to do anything because all around me is just weakness.. its gross.
Let's say your wife inexplicably decides to divorce you next year because the brainwashing got to her through one of her friends. Don't say "that would never happen" because that's what everyone says until it happens.
Would money and Halloween decorations prevent that from being miserable?
I don't wish that on you or think it's inevitable, but that was the point I was making. Money can help but our cultural problems are much deeper than economics.
Ok so this is like the "How would you feel if you didn't eat breakfast this morning" question. The answer isn't "but I did eat breakfast" just like it isn't "but my wife would never leave me". You're supposed to think about what other people might be going through in the same system, rather than your own personal situation.
big on family and community so you used something that you assume would hurt me
I'm also big on family and community. I used this example because it's where I see the worst damage being done to lots of people, and against their will. There are guys who marry their soulmate that this happens to. I knew a C level executive in a big company who was also a family man. Plenty of money, and thought the relationship was solid. His wife left him for her nigger personal trainer. I used it because it hurts me to see it, not because I want you hurt.
My whole point was just that money itself doesn't fix this shit or keep it from affecting you. It's a partial shield and can help enable some actions at best, and at worst it can immobilize you out of fear of losing what you have.
That's the progressive feminist way... Your husbands going to leave you, so you must put yourself first, have a career and think about yourself.
A happy marriage creates it's own doom with that outlook.
Christian fundamentalists are progressive. millenialists actually call themselves that. It means you live in the past and future but never the present.
The alternative to that isn't sticking your head up your ass and denying reality.
The either/or 100% this or 100% that is the toxic poison being handed around.
This is the part I always need to remind myself to do. Just sitting down and slowly thinking through where I'm at, where I want to be, and different ways to get there.
Nope. I stocked up on everything right before and at the beginning of teh covid shite. I've been living off of food stores for over a year. I have at least a year's worth left. In fact, I'm making bread right now with 2 year old flour and using 3 year old butter. I have plenty of toiletries and first aid supplies. I stocked up on diesel before fuel prices went to shit last year (diesel is a lot better for long term storage).
I got plenty of everything I knew I would need for years.
Get a 2nd checking account and direct deposit 15% into it. Get a 3rd and direct deposit 5% into that. Continue living with your 80% but earmark the 15 and 5 for your fence and goat projects respectively. Keep it going after that on other things, reminding yourself not to touch the other accounts.
This method frees you up. Comes from realization that no matter how much you make, you always tend to spend what you make. Ultimately nothing really changes except you maybe go out 2 less times, eat chicken instead of steak on the times you do go out, and probably accept 1 less amazon package a month which was some shit you didnt need anyway.
Before covid I was able to save (or gamble on crypto/short squeeze stocks) $1000 per month, reliably. Now between shrinkflation, hiked insurance costs for ALL of my policies, property tax hike, gasoline tax hike, fuel oil prices higher and higher, groceries costing a fucking fortune, and ordering takeout too often, I'm damn near living paycheck to paycheck again.
Little no brainer things like drinking only coffee brought from home, and water instead of expensive beverages bought at work help some, but it's still insane to me to have so much less discretionary cash compared to three years ago. It's not like I'm working any less hard.
Yeah, wagies are kinda getting fucked right now. If you have debt it’s even worse. Myself, as the owner of a retail business, prices necessarily increased. My cost of goods, fuel, insurance, shipping, etc., those increases get absorbed by the consumer in the end.
[ - ] Merlynn 1 point 1.7 yearsAug 17, 2023 12:44:29 ago (+1/-0)
Not really. The inflation kicked in alongside my falling off the consumerist treadmill and finding a love for discount shopping. If you're buying cheap chinese crap anyway, might as well pay less for it.
I'm also into "do it yourself" stuff and playing through old video games I already own but never got around to playing. And piracy. If the game's good,I'll pay for it. This policy has saved me a lot of money.
In the end,I just stopped following the rules cause no one else is. Also,be sure to shop around for a good deal on fencing. It might be worth driving 2 hours to get the stuff if you're saving a lot on it.
A 1000% increase in prices for everything would still not bother me financially.
I'm enjoying watching the working class proles suffer the consequences of their inaction. They've had all the time in the world to rise up and do something and they're just incapable of taking their destiny into their own hands.
NoT really, but I make a very good salary so can absorb it. I am saving less now though. I can’t see how many lower income people are making it without getting gibs.
I do fence for a living Gas prices are the biggest factor Gas prices go up everything goes up. Post and Wire fence is about $2 per ft for materials but you can save on posts buy using pine if you have any on your property. Red Top wire is a little more expensive but lasts longer.
with fuel, food, energy (oil, propane, etc), taxes, EVERYTHING going up the way it has over the past few years, it's hard not to feel pinched. That being said, your debt to income ratio is really the determining equation for how you can make out these days. I live in NH, comfortable spot that I built, no mortgage, taxes are reasonably low for this neck of the woods. I work remote (IT gig), so grateful for decent income, good wife and ZERO bank debt (of any kind). I could survive (easily) on 23 bucks an hour. I have some goals to develop a large property I own up here (thinking off-grid home-stead), but am waiting for this economy to roll over first so contractors and materials are less expensive. My advice, pay off what you can, get rid of what you don't need and try to minimize your debt and expenses. I remember 1990, 2008, 2020 all very clearly and my belief is that these were dress rehearsals for what is headed our way
Due to their bullshit policies from the lockdowns, we're not hiring. Every quarter is bad news after bad news. We, meaning the plebes, aren't able to travel for work. The execs, of course, can. They fly all the time, but not us.
But they just gave us a 25% "cost of living/location/fuck, I don't know what to call it"...raise. I shit you not. It's a significant impact to the paycheck.
They're not hiring anyone else, and actually still do some staff reductions--firings dude, you fucking fire people, not reduce staff--so there's still that.
So, the jew-led "inflation" isn't so hard for me. But I couldn't imagine doing $23/25 bucks an hour. Where I live, that's everything to pay for living and food. Sorry, bud. Hope it gets better.

Way too many to sort through this early in the morning. This site seems to cover the regulatory basis for the prices ultimately seen in stores.
Anyway, the $7.70 for 2 gallons is the delivered instacart price on the California coast.
