I'm quite certain that I read an anecdote describing an exchange between a visitor and a steward who admitted the chimney was built by the soviets after the war.
As for the blue staining, I believe this is also factual based on a documentary I watched where an American designer of gas chambers visited one of the so-called "death camps" and tested the walls of the purported gas chambers for residue.

The chimney pictured looks just like the fake at dachau and nothing like the courtyard at auschwitz.
The blue staining is from jews claiming cyanide gas in high concentration but the stains are proven to be fakes and not in any old photography.
The confusion on the chimneys probably comes from the fact that the little chimneys seen in your link were also added by the soviets and they were added to every camp they could but I believe only dachau had the big fake chimney added.
I should have mentioned earlier that the blue staining that was mentioned in the gas chamber exposé was only visible with the application of a chemical reagent, not in plain sight.
