old car vs new car

submitted by CovidHoldout to Rants 9 monthsAug 11, 2023 15:16:19 ago (+24/-0)     (Rants)

I had the pleasure of retrieving my car from asshole friend, with minimal pain and a title. Nothing overtly expensive or useful was traded, and the friendship is ended. Upon driving the car, i noticed something, the car drives 10 times better than my newer car ... like way better.

The thing is the car has no electronics on it, and any electronics it does have are analog lighting, no back up cameras, sensors of any kind. And the maintenance on it is super easy due to it having minimal, very generic parts. It's not worth that much right now, due to its age and condition. However, I have a feeling in the coming years with the EPA bullshit and crapola they will be throwing, these cars will make a comeback as being more reliable than the new overpriced horseshit.

Heck, the car has better acceleration, performance, handling and maintenance costs than 95% of the cars coming out today

The newest vehicle I own is 20+ years old, and it's a bit too new for my taste. I do all my own work and maintenance. Cars are a scam, and one of the leading causes of people going broke.

Every time I drive I am so gay. I'm gay to be able to travel about. I am gay to have such a wonderful automobile. You can tell by the big gay smile on my face when I drive through a school zone and watch kids punch each other.

He drives the car conceived by Adolf Hitler and designed by Ferdinand Porsche.

How gay are you?

I daily drive a 56 Betty. You just can't put a price on reliability.

Reminds me of diesel. The old diesel trucks are reliable and solid. Now with all the new standards, you need DEF, special injectors, and they consume more diesel than before ... What makes it weird, is diesel is a by product of gasoline, so why the hell is it so expensive?! It should be given away for free

Not to mention the removal of Sulphur which takes away all the lubrication and causes shit to blow up and fail early.

Ironically acid rain is good for plants. Unfortunately it's bad for the silicon based reptilian agents of death who rule over us.

More likely they'll pull a Europe or Japan and either revoke the registration of anything more than eight years old, or raise the renewal price to ridiculous levels when the vehicle gets old. Gonna be a shitshow.

I know in Europe they have very strict rules on taxis and how old they can be. You would think for a place that claims to be eco-friendly, they wouldn't be so eager to can relatively new cars so early ... complete waste is what it is. Wouldn't be surprised if its a way to subsidize demand for vehicles

[ - ] o0shad0o 0 points 9 monthsAug 11, 2023 18:37:29 ago (+0/-0)

It's because they're actively trying to chase people off the road and onto public transit, making it too expensive to drive.

I'm glad you got the car and the title w/o too much drama.

I hope he used the AK to threaten life

Yeah old cars are looking better and better. As long as there are parts around.

The better everything performance is probably due to being lighter. One of the things they do with the environmental and safety regulations is continually make vehicles heavier. So basically no matter the horsepower wars they mostly feel like boats. Even cars that are supposed to be light suffer. IDK if you can even buy a (new) Lotus any more.

I drive a 2006 Lincoln Town Car. Even tho it was a high end luxury car at the time, it's still pretty simple in it's set up. No computer gadgets or lane assist, side radar or any of that crap. Easy to fix and maintain, rarely needs any thing fixed really.

My 20 year-old van only has 85k miles on it. I will keep fixing it til I die.

So what kinda car is it?

[ - ] CovidHoldout [op] 0 points 9 monthsAug 11, 2023 18:03:30 ago (+0/-0)

It's a 1980s American sports car, relatively good condition, my friend did put a ton of damage on it though: snapped the exhaust line in half on the bottom, dents and scratches and needs a lot of detailing work done

[ - ] VitaminSieg 5 points 9 monthsAug 11, 2023 18:32:17 ago (+5/-0)

Telling us what kind of car isn't going to doxx you. Give it up, prom date.

[ - ] Special_Prosecutor 0 points 9 monthsAug 11, 2023 19:19:39 ago (+0/-0)

So it's a camaro or mustang. And why do you keep calling him your friend?

[ - ] CovidHoldout [op] 2 points 9 monthsAug 11, 2023 19:27:35 ago (+2/-0)

It’s a Corvette C4 from the 1980s. He’s not a friend anymore, annoying asshole is a better term
