Based on interviews with ex-government officers and the examination of official documents, this book answers the following questions: Why did the White House call back rescue planes from helping the Liberty -- twice? What was the CIA's role in this attack? Did LBJ know in advance about the attack? Why did the U.S. government accept Israel's explanation?

His civil rights legacy was shaped by signing the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and the Civil Rights Act of 1968

During his presidency, the American political landscape transformed significantly, as white southerners who were once staunch Democrats began moving to the Republican Party and black voters who sporadically supported the Democratic Party prior to 1964 began shifting towards the party in historic numbers.Because of his domestic agenda, Johnson's presidency marked the peak of modern liberalism in the United States in the 20th century. Johnson faced further troubles with race riots in major cities and increasing crime rates.

"As a young boy, Lyndon watched his politically active grandfather "Big Sam" and father "Little Sam" seek clemency for Leo Frank, the Jewish victim of a blood libel in Atlanta. FIVE DAYS after taking office in 1937, LBJ broke with the "Dixiecrats" and supported an immigration bill that would naturalize illegal aliens, mostly Jews from Lithuania and Poland. In 1938, Johnson was told of a young Austrian Jewish musician who was about to be deported from the United States. With an element of subterfuge, LBJ sent him to the US Consulate in Havana to obtain a residency permit."

They needed a war, so they caused the disaster used to rally the people against their enemy.
There's also evidence that the assassination of Franz Ferdinand was also a set up by the counties involved, just to give them the excuse they need to get the great war going.
Wars do not happen because of some inciting incident, again and again we see that the inciting incidents happen because powerful people want a war to happen.
Also, assassinations aren't because of what the target did, but because of what the targets was about to do, often something that would completely change the way we see these individuals.
jfk would be the warmonger who kicked off ww3, mlk would be the guy who killed the civil rights movement, lincoln would be like St Patrick, but instead of getting the pagans out of Ireland he'd have gotten the blacks out of America.
