Re titling a car that was fraudulently retitled and/or stolen

submitted by CovidHoldout to whatever 1.7 yearsAug 9, 2023 11:45:02 ago (+3/-0)     (whatever)

When I looked back, I had left out some key details about the situation since I was trying to get to the point. The car was bought by me, I had the title, bill of sale form the original owner, and the maintenance records were kept with the car.

I did not choose to register the vehicle, since I was moving at the time, so wanted it registered at final destination. I had opted to keep the car stored at my asshole friend's house so he could look over it until i could figure out where i was gonna put the car.

After I wanted the car moved out of storage, there was a lot of discrepancies. The original documents vanished, and the new title was to my friend's name instead. And then he decided he would only notarize the new title back to me for a price. I was able to recover the car, but not the title, so now i have an untitled car.

Im mulling the options over on what i can do next, since right now, i know im the idiot in this situation for having left everything in one place. I never envisioned this guy would do something so cruel and evil back to me, but here we are. I've stored cars before, and never once thought to retitle a car to my name to screw someone over, so im thinking this was premeditated on his part as a cash grab

I think you’re misusing the word “friend” here. But, he got you good. With no paper trail, he has the advantage. Is he of the tribe? Sure seems like it.

He aint no friend, but at this point im mulling how one can get a dup title without the other guy knowing. I know it can be done

Maybe talk to a used car dealer and find out how this could have been done. They deal with this kind of thing all the time.

Edit: if there is any chance you can reach the original owner you purchased the car from, they may still have the original bill of sale. Then you could take it to small claims court. Your ex-friend would have to prove the transfer of the vehicle to him.

I'm 100% sure he's a kike at this point, his claim is that because the car could be worth more than was originally paid for, paying him a fee to release the title means im still saving money compared to finding a similar vehicle. The only people i know who use this logic are kikes

This guy blatantly stole your car. He probably used his hands to steal from you, so apply a baseball bat to them until he can never steal again.

Yeah this guy is a huge piece of shit. As part of the way he wants me to release the title he wants me to barter some pre ban AKs for the difference. He claims he owns those and he just wants them back, but i paid for them.

That's how absurdly insane this guy is, he wants me to trade him guns i bought, for a car i bought, and he wants a finders fee for never having been part of any transaction. FFS, the one pre ban AK alone is worth more than 10 off those stupid cars

First, shoot the “friend”.

Do you want to see the AK in action?

It was signed and everything, but left with car for convenience before it was set to be transported

Did you sign for "Purchaser" "Buyer" or whatever term your state has on title?
Then he must have illegally altered the Title. Does he have a new Title in his name?
Did he steal/destroy the Bill of Sale?
If you can get the bill of sale copy from original seller then threaten with police theft report if he doesn't immediately transfer car.

Signed as purchaser of the vehicle, and the title is now in his name instead. Hence the confusion as to how someone who did NOT purchase the vehicle, has the title of the car. Bill of sale is gone, and i would need to contact the original seller of the vehicle to get a new one.

Get a copy of the bill of sale. If he doesn't have it ask if he can sign a replacement because yours was lost.
Threaten a police report to the asshole and follow through if he won't sign his bullshit title to you.

What year make model and condition.

[ - ] CovidHoldout [op] 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 9, 2023 15:13:35 ago (+0/-0)

When bought the condition was excellent, now, it's at best mediocre/average. Lots of stains and cracks all over the body and front of the vehicle. The car in question is a classic American sports car from the 1980s-1990s era

Nothing from back then is worth an AK.

[ - ] CovidHoldout [op] 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 9, 2023 20:00:00 ago (+0/-0)

Technically he wants 2 AKs, both are chinesium trash though, which is why im on the fence whether to give them to him and than declare the firearms "stolen" after or something

[ - ] bobdole9 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 9, 2023 20:38:40 ago (+0/-0)

Reporting the guns stolen as soon as the title is officially in your name sounds like a good plan. Can't imagine it would be too odd for the "victim" to know the perpetrator.

[ - ] MaryXmas 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 9, 2023 15:17:38 ago (+0/-0)

Give him the guns then call the fuzz and say that he stole them.

[ - ] CovidHoldout [op] 0 points 1.7 yearsAug 9, 2023 20:01:27 ago (+0/-0)

I may have to call the fuzz anyway, since i absolutely know this guy is gonna try jewing me in some way

Get a free consult with a couple lawyers who are familiar with the laws in your area. There might be an easy solution.

This depends entirely on what state you are in.
