You should not be using zip ties to secure electrical wiring to metal eye hooks like the one we are talking about. Also a cars frame is bonded to the negative terminal of the battery anyway to help keep the car safer even if something shorts to the frame/outer shell. In a building this isn't the case.
Not only will the insulation degrade faster, but the circuit will short out once the insulation is bad enough, causing all kinds of other issues and create an unsafe environment.
It's all about risk management and future hassle.
I prefer to do a job once, and not have people die from my laziness.
You dont pull the zip tie tight with EVERY OUNCE OF ENERGY so that the wire is screaming for mercy. You 'fasten' it. Clearly you have never looked under the hood of a car. There are hundreds of zip ties, holding all kinds of wires and hoses.
Again, they aren't zip tied to metal as is common safety practice amongst electricians.
The fact that you can't understand hot electrical circuitry being bonded to open air metal is a bad idea astounds me.
Vibration occurs and causes damage to insulation, zip ties exacerbate this situation. I forget, do car engine compartments vibrate?
Don't go thinking that since your local chop shop doesn't give a fuck about (or even know anything about) electrical circuitry/safety and decides to zip tie wires to metal hoops and framework doesn't mean that it's suddenly safe.
