They were both "forced" by the idea of losing comfort. One a paycheck that would deny access to debt servicing and the pleasures of the supermarket. The other denied the attention and social media dopamine that comes from being associated with a famous person.

Comfort and pleasure are the biggest traps in modern life. There has never been a revolution fought from a society that has air conditioning and supermarket groceries
