Don’t do drugs. That shit is poison. What drugs? It doesn’t matter what drugs. One day being Normal is good enough and then everyday afterwards it’s like the joy is missing from life. It’s bullshit. I hate seeing my people like this. I know I’m not the only one. Please listen. It’s a sickness and there’s nothing cool or fun or admirable about it. It’s weak. It’s not fun. Its miserable. It’s like being strung along by a cruel puppet master. It just doesn’t end. You keep tellin yourself it’ll get better. It won’t. Don’t do it. It’s fucking stupid. I wander if I’ll ever feel normal again.

This game 'can' be multiplayer, but you can also put in hundreds of hours of single player. Slight learning curve that's worth it for one of the best ever war game simulations.

That's the entire game that's ready to be printed out and played.

I rationalized it exactly with this line. Also the line that literally everyone I was doing drugs with was super successful and extremely smart. I guess the only smart thing all of us did was actually stopped doing drugs as well.

I believe magic mushrooms are an excellent way to reconnect with yourself and nature. The great thing is you neither want to do them everyday and if you try they tend to be less strong consecutively. You can't lie to yourself on mushrooms.

Yeah, and there's a big difference between doing mushrooms, mead, weed or whatever occasionally as a spiritual aid vs smoking weed or drinking or doing some harder drug every day. Every day use will degrade your life over time. Occasional use will help you change your head space when you need to.

The sheer amount of deaths from that poison in my town and county is staggering.

I recall a conversation with a priest, more deaths from alcohol in this area than anywhere else in the world.

I've been to 18 alcoholic funerals by 30, these people died young. Late 20s to late 40s. Not 1 made 50.

It's getting worse with coke being plentiful, it sobers them up, they drink more and the poison accumulates. Especially among women who more commonly take it.

Great post, Saint. It will get better. It can take a long time. Longer than you'd like. I think of it like physiological mourning. In the same way that, when someone you love dies, you don't forget that person, but you reach a point where you're okay. I don't think the memory of the discrepancy between sobriety and using goes away. You can always become aware of the difference between your sober state and the 'way things could be'; but you'll think about that less and less with time, until eventually it's few and far in between - the whole time your disdain for the drug grows. You've got to start to value your control more than you value your receptivity to experiences or feelng states. You've got to value your personal freedom for what it is, the thing about you that is most like God. Then you use it like you're a god. Get off on dictating how you're going to live, rather than waiting for something external to decide what's best.

Yeah it takes forever. Having a likable job helps. Also, throwing yourself into an intellectual endeavor such as learning music or a trade can help too. All that time on your hands now can be put to good use. It will be frustrating but your little victories add up and give satisfaction with yourself that's a better feeling than any drug or booze.

Never thought of that but I'm very disciplined. BP can be excruciating and any concern about addiction pales into insignificance compared to stopping those electric spasms.

Four weeks actually. I was in hospital for nearly four weeks and I did have side-effects but not withdrawal symptoms.

I've done more than my share, and have also had Fentanyl in the hospital. You'd have to be in severe pain to like the effect of recreational Fentanyl. As for pain, you really can't beat Oxycontin. When it feels like there's a knife in your eye, Oxycontin is your friend.

Obviously, don't take addictive drugs more than necessary though.
