Well thank you for the reply, now will you be kind enough to say just where the "Explore Talk" heading can be located - or the "Menu" heading for all that - neither appear in the list outlined in red at right on the all page, so where are they ??

You're not using it right. I admit, it takes a little bit to understand the search function but once you do it is impeccable. I use it pretty often, hell, I used it yesterday to find a 5 month old post with the words "follow button".

See that white box that says "Search"? Is that not what you're looking for? I just typed "Fascinus" in and it gave me every thread he's tied to.
Again, if that's not what you're looking for use SearchVoat. Thoroughly go through the Search Options, ticking the tlol tab and filling in the search parameters and it will give you whatever you need.
It's there but you need to search for it (not being funny). You need to flick up a different page by clicking on the title or something. The Chat button falls into the same "lost" category.

You might want to visit you account page, go to Account Options and see if one of the toggles need to be flipped.
