It goes back to Aristotle and living a good life. The obvious question though being what is a good life and what is wasting it?

To me to waste is do something like spend time on a time sink like video games.

To live a good life though is to live for higher ideals. Higher being things on a civilizational plane, not a focus on materialism which for good reason has historically been seen as crass yet our bourgeois dominated ethics uphold as the standard of success. Nice house, nice car, having STUFF. Even a lot of users on this site take these liberal, bourgeois values for granted. You see a lot of this in denigrating of homelessness. They got more shit so they are better living their uninteresting normie lifestyle in their bedroom community.
