How have real estate agents become so ... stupid?

submitted by CovidHoldout to Rants 9 monthsJul 31, 2023 12:57:27 ago (+12/-0)     (Rants)

I talked with a few, and finding a good one is insanely difficult. The first one was getting impatient and wanted to wholesale my house to a completely random company through some kind of weird title scam. He also didn't know how to open my windows because anything outside post 2010 construction was just magic to him. The second one assured me i had foundational problems that i caused ( i didnt), and scare me into thinking my house was a total loss. In both cases their "opinions" were total bullshit, and i had to pay thousands to verify the second claim just to make sure. Turns out it was a minor issue with a gutter pipe.

With the coming recession, I really hope the trash flushes itself away

They've always been that stupid.

Real estate agents are the most useless people on the planet. They become real estate agents because they've failed at everything else they tried.

Real estate agents are in sales (which is emotional). Women (emotional) are also often real estate agents or have the most listings. Leave it to women to have one of the most useless careers that exists.

Nobody ever worked harder for that 3% fee. /s

My buddy is like 6"4 white blue eyes double major and knows a bit of coding. He's a realtor. He got set up by his wife and had to go to jail. When he got out he made 300k in 1 year.

Real Estate agent used to be the job for former strippers when they aged out of stripping.

Why be good at your job when blackrock and vanguard will have a bidding war up to 40% above markup just to keep property out of the hands of plebs?

Literally anyone can become a real estate agent. I knew a stoner that got his and he's never sold a thing he's lazy as fuck. He'd advertise but then just go back to drug dealing.

I know a few girls who got theirs just to sell one to two houses a year and travel the rest of the time. These people fucking suck.

It takes 2 weeks and $500 to become a Realtor and be your own boss. This sort of thing is a get rich quick scheme to losers, and the proper smart people in real estate are probably too busy because 90% of the homes they work with sell the same day they're listed, or they see your property as something people won't buy. Additionally, if you have any public facing social media that would piss off Jews they can find they might not even want to do business with you.

A lawyer and a title company actually do something. The realtor gets paid many times more and offers no guarantee of competence.

Dude ya, I checked your house and you def have massive structural problems with your foundation. But I'm here to help, just let me take over the payments and the deed and I'll even pay to help you move out. This would be a great deal for you

How does that even work? What’s the upside to wholesaling a house outside Jewish money games?

[ - ] ModernGuilt 1 point 9 monthsJul 31, 2023 21:12:23 ago (+1/-0)

Turn it into a rental or find some dumb foreigner (jew or Chinese) to spend even more money on it

Some make money on volume, by gaslighting you.

Think about how does this one make money -
Find one that's a bit older, a negotiator.

Being a real estate agent is for people with no real skills, no real direction in life, and no actual ambition.

Oh it's fun pulling data out of MLS searches for comps. Some of the stuff realtors put in there will be outright wrong, reallllly stretching the definition of something like a porch, or they will provide no photos to go off of.

Usually it's no big deal, but it's just like... How could you not? Like, an honest mistake here and there okay but it's like every other report I'm working on there is something screwballed in the MLS somehow because someone got lazy or fatfingered their keyboard or something.

Anyway... Appraising is fun. And I don't have to play salesman. If a house is crap, I can live with that and not have a care in the world, while Joe Schmuck the realtor has to somehow sell it with a smile and some swagger.

Poor realtors...

Male real estate agent. Lol.

[ - ] Ex_hack 1 point 9 monthsJul 31, 2023 15:27:44 ago (+1/-0)

Every male real estate agent I've ever met/dealt with has been a cokehead.

I've had a similar experience

90% of people in real estate do not have any practical experience fixing things.

I was a real estate broker for six years, and I was one of the most knowledgeable.

The general rule of thumb is to just assign the responsibility to the client, so that the realtor can’t be held accountable. “You should check with the town, heres the phone number”.

Landlords are even worse. A coworker of mine is going through a nasty eviction and just appealed it and had to be let back into his apartment after the sheriff kicked him out, and the maintenance guys moved all his stuff into his tiny one bedroom - living room furniture and all, tore up the carpet and took away the air conditioning unit, then he filed a complaint with the department of neighborhood services, his landlord came over to fix the gaping hole where the a/c was and told him that he'd replace the original carpeting but it was sitting in a dumpster for a week. My coworker yelled at him and couldn't believe the sheer stupidity his landlord suggested - digging carpet out of a dumpster only to have a potential bug infestation not only in his apartment unit but possibly the whole building.
