The idea that oil, billions of gallons of it, was created by dinosaurs being buried for 60 million years.
This is the dumbest shit and I can't believe that ANYONE could possible believe much less teach this.
What about fossils that are found? Did all the dinosaurs pile on top of each other when they saw the "comet" coming, so it'd be in nice convenient pools?
I'm sorry but even as a kid this sounded retarded.
The holocaust is bullshit, but when properly manipulated is atleast believable when your 10 and don't understand historical population or jews.
But fossil fuel? On its face, FUCKING RETARDED... Am I alone here? Is there some kind of science I don't understand that turns carbon based lifeforms into black heavily energetic goo???
Fossil fuel is real, but it’s the mind of a ten year old who thinks of fossils as merely dinosaur bones. I’m no expert on the subject, but I did make it through junior high, barely. What I think they mean by fossils, is the fossilization of any and all organic matter, eventually breaking down into what we can extract as a fuel source. In layman terms, think 'compost bin'. That’s all it is. I think you’re reading too much into it. However, I did have the same query as a kid, about the dinosaurs and shit. ✌️⚡️⚡️
That is the story you were told, but it is complete fucking nonsense.
I'm right there with gaper, I cannot believe how fucking retarded most of humanity is.
Just look at what you wrote? The fossilization of organic matter eventually breaking down… fossils don't "break down", and even if they did, they wouldn't become petroleum hydrocarbons.
Oil is also a renewable resource. A whole mess of Texan wells that have been "dry" for a century are now producing again.
You are too preoccupied with the name fossil fuel, my brother. It's just words conveying an idea, it isn't always going to be technically correct.
Fossil fuel is just the catchy marketing name for mixed hydrocarbons. Any sufficient mass of organic material under enough heat and pressure, without access to oxygen, and with enough time brakes back down into a wide variety of these hydrocarbons. We do it ourselves when we cook wood in low oxygen environment to make charcoal. It's actually not all that different from normal coal, just cleaner really. Fossil fuels have no significant similarity to the rare preserved fossils we get dinosaur bones from. But both are old and fossil fuel is catchy and sticks in the brain so it was normalized. Raging at this fact is meaningless, ultimately it's just a label.
In reality, most "fossil fuels" are old forests that got buried which become coal. Meanwhile, swamps and "marine snow" precipitate that built up over time then got buried in sediment becomes oil.
As for the time it takes to produce these hydrocarbons, that I am on the fence about. Big oil does have a financial interesting in pretending to be about to run out every year for the last 30 years.
I have no idea about the Texan wells regenerating themselves. First I've heard about it, and you word alone is of course not gospel.
Still, consider me open minded to the idea that "fossil fuels" regenerate quickly.
Oil is produced by the Earth, constantly. By the time we start to 'run out' we will have energy sources we cannot yet even dream of, if we are even still around.
They don't know jack shit about the processes under the earth or in "space" and since people will never goto either they are allowed to spout whatever "science" they like about either and you as peasant serf must nod and agree.
Willing to bet I'm not the only one who remembers being TAUGHT that the Moon was a piece of Earth that had got busted off during Earths formation by impact with another body.
They literally told us a meteor hit Earth and busted off a big ole piece and that's the moon. (public school in the Southern states, 1980s & 1990s)
Yeah well for oil I long ago concluded it was produced in the Solar Furnace we call the Sun, then borne in on the solar wind it precipitated onto the ground where in it accumulated in lakes, rivers and estuaries that were subsequently buried by infill, which are tapped by the oil drillers to this day .. in this model the air we breathe and the water we drink is similarly produced in the Sun, it comes in from space thru atmospheric holes in the vicinity of both poles. The Hole at the Pole.
There are giant fucking tectonic plates moving around, and there are plenty of opportunities for hydrogen (ocean water) and carbon (15th most abundant element in the Earth's crust) to be squeezed together as the crust is cycled.
(Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe, constituting roughly 75% of all normal matter.3 However, it makes up only about 0.14 percent of Earth's crust by weight. On Earth, hydrogen is found in vast quantities)
How could these two possibly come to be pressurized together??
What a mystery. Probably we should give up power to somebody
The only fossils I gave a shit about when I was a kid was Kabuto and the other one inside that Pokemon cave on the Gameboy.
Had to play the game a whole nother time to get both or be the only kid in school with a link cable accessory.
“Aye mom, lemme get this $20 link cable that only works for two of the games in the entirely Gameboy library and none of these kids give a fuck about 2 Player Tetris.”
But that’s how it was. And most of us did manage to finish that video game. And when someone brought the Gameboy printer to school, we all managed to print out our certificates of completion.
Maybe you know something I don't, but it doesn't seem to me a retarded premise.
There is a thing called Chernozem (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chernozem), black earth, which presumably comes from massive biomass death distributed and concentrated in specific regions from great flood runoff. So there is precedent for biomass pooling in singular areas. Speaking from memory, this biomass is then compressed and undergoes chemical reactions for a long time. Sure, it could be a lie, but I don't know enough to say this is retarded. What's your hypothesis on the matter and what evidence do you have to back it?
